W5R3 next and dreading it for some unknown reason

I completed W5R2 yesterday and despite a little apprehension at first it was not as hard as I feared. W5R3 is booked for Tuesday and I will be doing it at lunch time with a friend who is also doing the program. Now the thought of 20 mins without a break is getting daunting. My head is really starting to warn me that I am going to struggle even though I have completed each run without trouble so far. One or two were challenging at the time but doable. Shall I do run 2 again today in preparation or shall I rest for the two days as planned and go for it on Tuesday? Any one else had this mental fear of this specific run?

Anticipation not apprehension... delight not dread.

One slow and steady foot in front of the other... you are totally ready for this. Each and every run follows the one before it in a structured build up.

If you ran yesterday you do not ever run the next day... rest up and do the run as planned, you will be fine:)

This run has got itself bad name... it is just a run.. and if you take it gently it will go well.

I think it is more in my mind as my body seems to be coping. I will go for a swim instead today and tomorrow. It is hard not to listen to this little negative voice. Thank you so much for your supporting words. Will report back on Tuesday

Go for it! Whatever you achieve is fine. It feels like a totally unreasonable ask, doesn't it? I almost stalled and re-did run W5R2 but I think I might have got stuck in that rut if I had. Give it your best shot and chances are, you'll surprise yourself. Good luck!

Thank you for the link. I have just read it and all the comments and you are right. I can see how the negativity and fear were creeping in. No re-run. Swimming for fitness until Tuesday and R3 here I come and I will give it my best.

I remember being at exactly the same point and asking the same questions. You can trust in the program. If you’ve had no problems so far then you will do this. It just happens. It’s there for a reason. Go for it!

Of course! It seems a lot but building it up in your head just makes it harder.

Have faith in what you've accomplished so far and the programme! 👍😊

I was the same, but just get out there and run. You'll surprise yourself, I did!!!!

Go for it on Tuesday Samarie...you will be fine...

Although you are doing this run with a friend, do the run at your own pace, nice and steady, you may find you don't keep together but you need to be in control of your own run.

You can meet up for the warm down walk...

Don't forget to give a big cheer at the end!😊xx

I completed wk5r3 today. Took me by surprise as I deliberately don't look at the run schedule beforehand and thought the 20 minute run was in week 6! It was tough and I had 3x 10 second walks during it but it was ok. Am going to do it again on Tuesday hopefully without the walks. I understand the fear and still struggle with breathing (drowning!) but you can do this!!
