Well I didn't think I would manage it but to my surprise I did....I actually ran for 20 minutes in one go without feeling like i was going to die πSeriously chuffed with myself....and hubby as he's doing it with me. This forum has been great for advice and tips and reading others posts. Happy humpday π
W5R3!!! I did it!!!!: Well I didn't think I... - Couch to 5K
W5R3!!! I did it!!!!
Well done - it's the amazing thing about this programme - you CAN do it even though it seems beyond your reach at times.
Massive Well done Mrsh3 πππ» I'm about to embark on the same run and I have my doubts about 20mins but seeing your post has made me feel a little bit better about it! Fingers crossed for the same success as you!! ππππ»π
I seriously didn't think it was possible....going from 8 minutes to 20?? No way! But I was wrong and it didn't feel that bad. It's the first time I've ran with music and I think it helped. Good luck but you will be fine πππββοΈ
Jumping from 8mins to 20 is not advisable. If you have followed the programme you should not need to do this.
I have followed the programme.....run 2 of week 5 is 8 minutes running with 5 minutes walking followed by 8 minutes running. Today's run was 20 minutes.
Thanks for clarifying Mrsh3 , I got my wires crossed, and thought you were pushing yourself too much.
You were looking at it in terms of one run without stopping/ slowing down, rather than your overall duration of exercise which was 16 mins running overall.
Well done. It is your hard work that has got you to this point
Well done, I did my W5R3 last night, couldn't believe I did it!!
I'm in week 5 too. Run 2 today which seems doable but I am DREADING run 3. It seems a huge jump from 2x8 mins to 1x20 mins!
Do not dread it JoL Do your R2 today, which is 2 x8 (16 mins total) then when you come to do R3 Iin a few days time know that you are ready for it. Believe in yourself and the plan.
Tackling these runs in a positive manner helps so much. YOU CAN DO ITπ...
Go you onwards and upwards.
Well done Mrsh3 and hubby.π
Feels great to get that 20 min run done doesn't it...
Good luck with Wk6
Well done it is the best feeling when you complete that run. Onward and upwards
Well done! I'm looking forward to joining in with the cyber high fiving on Friday! I found run 2 quite comfortable today, just got to dry my gear out and get the legs rested!
Cyber high fiving, I like that! Yes a lot of it goes on here but it doesn't half help the process/progress. I've got my w5r2 today and the above posts are very encouraging for my looming 5/3 as I really don't feel I'm able to do it! Good luck with yours, see you for a 'fiver' on Friday!
Congratulations. Does feel like quite a hurdle to overcome. I was supposed to do it last night but after a day working in the garden I was so sore there was no way I'd complete it so I put it off to tonight.
Thank you for your encouragement, I'm doing w5r2 today which I can't believe I'll achieve, never mind the 20 without a break that is looming! I will crack a bottle of something if I do, it will be on my birthday and will have taken me 49 years to do it!!
I was exactly the same but I surprised myself....once I did the second 8 mins I knew I could do it becauseI just had! The 20 mins run is really just about keeping it slow and steady and not going too fast to start...you will be fine. I'm 46 and hubby is 56 and never thought we would be doing this π
I'm doing my 20 mins tomorrow. Will be astounded if I do it. Seems such a massive jump from 2 8s with a 5 minute rest in the middle which I seriously needed!
