Oh my, I adore dachshunds (don't tell Google) Can you imagine us running with the snow that far up our legs? Bravo Dottie!

I hate to be a killjoy when Dottie obviously enjoyed herself but do check if she should be running that much at only 7 months. I've always had Labradors and letting them run free as puppies can cause a lot of damage to their developing bones and joints. I don't know if this just applies to big dogs who tend to have joint problems as they get older but worth checking out. Sorry if I'm trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs!!

I'm only in week 2 and Dottie didnt have to run fast as i am not a fast runner.

We were told puppies can walk 5 mins for every month of their life so half an hour is fine for Dottie.

But concerned now about the grit on her paws though so may give it a few weeks for weather to improve.

Xx

Yeah, you have to check the breed book for your dog’s exercise table. I walk a Basset and he had to be grown slowly. It took 18 months to work up to a mile, for example.

In this weather I don’t walk him too far. Mind you! 90 mins this morning but he’s 8 now

I learned to run to keep up with him and to give him a decent workout 🙂

Be careful if you are running on gritted areas - it is very bad for dogs paw pads! 🐾❄
