Still in post grad wilderness - doubting day

Pre post apology for self indulgent ramble.

I have been running every other day whilst on my winter sojourn - lucky me. So what have I got to moan about? Nothing really, just need reminding of the benefits of running. Yesterday came the sobering realisation that I am still only just running faster than my brisk walk to the shops. So what’s that about? Am I consolidating my ability to run non stop for 30 mins non stop? Somewhere somebody posted about the flattening of the learning curve after graduation so maybe that is what it’s about.

Of course I realize too that I seem to have so much more energy now so that my self imposed idleness is driving me mad and I can’t wait to get back to all my home activities. Now there’s a thing.... running makes you want to move more!!

In a strange way I am enjoying reading all those posts from newbies on the programme and remember all those thrilling achievements along the way.

I obviously have too much thinking time on my hands .....

Thanks for “listening” folks

I worry about this stage, without the weekly runs to achieve, will I enjoy running just for myself and the benefits of being fitter/more active?

I also worry about getting too hung up on speed and mileage, feeling I have something to prove but to whom I have no idea!

Well done for keeping it up every other day! 👍💪🌟

Just a bit of a blip day really. I share all those worries of yours, still it’s amazing how many ways you can find to to add interest. I’ve tried making pictures on Strava runs, I expect I look very weird twisting , turning, zig zagging as I go!

I’ve also done a couple of final run podcasts again just to hear Sarah millican tell me how great I am 😃

I have downloaded so many tracking apps that it takes me 5 mins to set them all up - I keep hoping that one them will tell me I ran further and faster than I thought.

I hope you enjoy your road to graduation, and despite my post it is fun afterwards too

Have you read the guide to post C25K running? healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which mentions many of the options open to you.

It all really depends why you started C25K in the first place and where you subsequently decide you want to go with your running. You don't have to keep pushing the boundaries of pace and distance, to stay fit. One report suggests that being slow and not running too far is going to make you live longer womensrunning.competitor.co...

You might want to compete and collect bling as so many do or you might be more like me and find running can just be about being out in the open air appreciating your environment, which is my reason for running healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You will find your way and you do not need to be anxious about it as long as you maintain the habit.

Keep running, keep smiling.
