Week 6 done!?

This is my third attempt at Cto5K. Defeated by injuries in week 4 and on second try at beginning of week 6. So I am pleased to report I’ve just finished week 6 (almost). It was soooo hard! It felt such a huge leap. On the final 25 minute run I just couldn’t do it. After 22 mins I had to slow down for a breathe and then continued. Should I go onto week 7 or repeat week 6? The thought of running for 30 mins is really daunting.

Well done for coming back fighting. I would say that you should do what you feel comfortable with.

You will be fine to move on to week 7 but if you feel that repeating will increase your confidence, then do so. I would suggest that for the next run, set off a bit slower. You can speed up later in the run if you feel that you have fuel in the tank.

Dont worry! Honestly! Trust in the programme and yourself. If you did the last run you can do the next one. If you want an extra day off then do so but don't be afraid to go for it. You are only going slowly and steadily, no hurry, no need to push. If you go slow enough you won't get out of puff. If you do then you can slow down or stop, let your breathing return to normal and then push on again.

There's nothing to fear. It's a walk with a few slow jogs thrown in. You've been quietly building your fitness over the first few weeks of the programme and it will get you through. Try and get plenty of sleep. Eat well and you'll be good to go.

Have fun. Good luck!
