HELP!!

I had planned my Wk4 R2 this morning but work took over my plans and forced me to abort. Now I'm feeling rather deflated and worried. Go for your run later I hear you all say but I have been doing these sessions in secret in a morning so I can surprise my family once ive completed it. As the only non runner in the family it is important to me but I am now wondering if I should tell them and maybe hope I have time after work tonight or just try and shrug it off and maybe go tomorrow or stick to Friday (normally Monday, Wednesday and Friday runs)

I cant believe how down I feel about this and I'm really starting to question myself :-(

Well done on what you have already done!

Well you have identified your choices, run tomorrow morning. or share you huge achievement and run tonight! The choice is yours.

It all depends if you would like your family’s encouragement now or later. But if they are runners they are going to be so excited for you..... are you ready for that pride to shine through from you but also from your family 😀🏃🏻‍♀️

Oh wow bless you for doing it in secret! Don’t feel down.. you can do this , just delay until

tomorrow morning, an extra rest day won’t do any harm at all! Well done so far !

If you want to keep it a secret, I'd say take another rest day. It won't do any harm :)

Hey dont beat yourself up about it. I was in the same boat yesterday. Id been so busy i didnt get to run so i pln to go this evening instead.

I know you ha e been so excited to surprise them and if thats still what you want to do then do just that. I dont think it matters when you tell them though they will be chuffed for you whenever. Maybe it will be easier if they knew? Maybe they would provide support.

Dont forget though. Ultimately you are doing this for you. So do whatever feels right. This is a journey not a race it doesnt matter when you complete it. So if one run is slightly later than you planned so what? Its not the end of the world. You are doing great and you are already half way through the course xx

Interesting dilemma: I'd keep the motivation of surprising your family and go on Friday.

Like you I was trying to do every week on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday cycle but I got out of synch over Christmas. It's no bad thing to have an extra day or two recovery now and again. You might take 10 weeks to get there but look where you'll be.

I regularly that 3 day rest periods and it does not seem to make any difference to my ability to do the next run. Don't get hung up on the 9 week bit, not many achieve that, especially in winter. Good luck, you can do it anyway that suits you.

I did my Wk4 run 2 on Friday and have just done run 3. Just reschedule and carry on you'll be fine. Sometimes I can't get 3 runs a week in but I just carry on going. Well done for getting this far and keep it up.

Don't turn it into a drama. You are in control. There is no pressure in this plan apart from that which you apply to yourself.

Have you read the guide to the plan? healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which explains that you can fit the runs in however you like, so long as you have at least one rest day between workouts.

Relax and enjoy it.

Big thank you to everyone who posted back to me yesterday and picked me back up from a real crappy day. I did my Week 4 Run 2 today and felt great, I felt like I could have done another burst of 3 min and 5 mins running. I think I may have nailed my pace as I felt really good and wasn't out of breath at all. This fills me with confidence for the dreaded transition to week 5.

Thanks again peeps.................................oh and the secret is still on and the family surprise is still in tact :-)
