So I started my Christmas holidays last year and had a couple of weeks of relative peace, good runs and feeling absolutely amazing, Christmas day came and went and quite unusually, I didn't get the flu when I started the holidays (it's almost been a tradition for me to have flu over Christmas).
Then, after Boxing Day I started feeling a little dizzy, light headed and sick, I thought nothing of it to be honest and avoided driving, etc. I ended up being taken to the out of hours GP surgery to be told I had an inner ear infection, lovely, just what you need.
I started with a sore throat, then a cough, etc, etc, etc, back to the GP, throat and chest infection, super, again just what you want.
Just over 5 weeks later, I'm back at work on light jobs only, I work in IT designing solutions so I don't due anything heavy!
This morning, I still have a little bit of 'stuff' on my chest but I had to make a start, onto the treadmill, I'd promised Mrs LeeU that I wouldn't over do it; to be fair I did half expect her to be stood there with an inhaler and defibrillator (the running version of a fire extinguisher I suppose).
I stuck to walking uphill, starting at 3 degrees and working my way up to 20 degrees, I walked at a brisk pace, I did sweat quite a bit but completed the 30 minutes I had decided I was going to do.
My plan is to continue doing this for a few weeks then ease back into a light jog/shuffle. Damn, I missed the treadmill and the jogging.
BUT I'm back and ready to go.
