So w5r2 you ran 8mins brisk walk 5mins and ran 8 mins a total of 21mins so you're actually doing less today, just remember slow is the way. Set of at snails pace and then knock it back a gear.

I was really nervous about this run but I found it easier than keep stopping and starting. The first 5 minutes were difficult and I thought I would never make it but then I found my happy pace, got in the zone and found myself thinking about other things than how long I had ran and how far I had to go! I was slower than slow but felt just a little bit proud at the end.

Good luck and enjoy.

As roly says - slow. Go relaxed and gentle. I find it helpful to chop up the time in my head so my conversation with myself goes something like...

" I know I can run for 5mins... ok done that, I can do that again... I can manage another 'nother 5 mins (I've just proved to myself twice that I can do that)... I can plod on for another 2 mins... just 2mins more...only 60sec...YES!!! 5mins cool down - bliss & bask in success, grin like an idiot to horses in field beside me!

You're probably do much better than that!! πŸ˜ƒ

Fantastic Hels - that run is a psychological turning point for most of us-proof that you can do it! Enjoy W6!πŸ˜„

Convince yourself beforehand you will do it (trust me you will), and take it really slowly. It’s not a race. πŸ˜€ You will be elated when you finish! Good music helps some people too. (Me, for one).

No negative thoughts allowed! Negativity is a runner’s number one enemy! Learn how to deal with that and you will accomplish anything!
