I took a long time to find the motivation to get my butt off of the couch and after completing week 2 I was overjoyed-I found it hard but I was so chuffed to get to week 3. However, I did have a bit of a knee twinge and a cricked neck! I did W3R1 on Monday and again I was really chuffed to have finished it but my knee was really sore. Last night I could hardly sleep as my knee and neck hurt I managed to get in to see a sports therapist and he has told me they are related! Apparently my knee turns in slightly when I out weight on it and that has meant my hip has overcompensated and that in turn has affected my neck!! He doesn't think it's bad but I do need to rest it for a few days. I am gutted. I am meant to run tomorrow but he says to wait until Friday at least but that should be my 3rd run! I know it's only a couple of days (hopefully) but I am so worried that I won't get back into it and will be back to square 1...
A little bit fed up.....: I took a long time to... - Couch to 5K

I’m sorry you have be benched for a couple of days. The good news is that he mustn’t think it too bad as you can go back to running after that. Has he given you some exercises to help sort it all out? It is always better to find these little quirks early days and get them sorted, it will help towards a smoother running journey in the future. Keep coming back on here to help keep your motivation high.
Thank you for your reply. Yes he has given me some exercises and he spent an hour working on my legs #ouchthepain!!
Good that you could see a professional about it! Maybe do a core workout that is done without any weight on your knee ? Good luck
Thanks for posting this. I did w3r1 yesterday and was pleased with myself but had a twinging pain in my knee which is a bit sorer today. I'm due to do w3r2 tomorrow so I'll see how the knee feels. I'd be gutted to have to miss a session though so I'm not sure what to do. I'll also be on a little business trip - so if I do go I'll be running on the streets of Glasgow for the first time!
As Realfoodieclub says, great that you will be back out there soon.. and we do expect a few tinges and aches and pains in these very early days. Warming up well, stretches after runs and the exercises your sports physio has given you will really help !
Good that you took advice. Best to avoid injury as that means you can get back into it sooner.
Best wishes
Don't be despondent you've made the biggest move in starting. Do the exercises and follow the advice. In a few months when you have graduated it will seem the tiniest of blips - honest!!
Might be worth considering getting a gait analysis.
