Well, a few days ago I started with a cold, kindly donated by Mr W. He had been really poorly and I was dreading it. So second day of symptoms and I went running (all in head at that point). Well the run was a snotty affair (I'll save you the details) but my head felt clearer by the end. Over the course of that day my symptoms improved and then disappeared....Weird but can running cure a cold?

It does stuff to your immune system so...
It was really remarkable....
Patent it quick Helen!
Sounds as though it's worked for you
Yes! That would explain how I ONLY had a mild 4-day cold last week while all around me were positively bronchial. Probably to do with pumping around the germ killers faster. Hurray for running!
We now have a sample size of 2 Definitely on to something
Magic.... I believe
I've read that exercise can speed up your recovery from colds. It's a combo of getting the blood pumping, sweating out bad stuff and boosting your immune system. But also, yes magic
Must be why this programme is on the NHS 😂
I think so, I had similar last week, I reckon I was carrying a kilo of tissues in the run and at the end, no tissues.... no snot, no hacking cough, nothing.
That gives us statistical sample size of 3....
We only need another 77 randomly assigned to have a PHD 👍
My t shirt had a stiff front by the time I got home. Thank goodness I live in the country 🏃🏾♀️
can I just point out, party pooper that I am, that you cannot "boost your immune system". Either your immune system works, or you have an immune deficiency condition. If ot were possible to turn your imune system up to 11 it would actually make you very ill as your immune system would attack healthy tissue.
'Boosted immune systems' are effectively what cause things like lupus, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.
So magic then
Last year I had a niggly tickly cough that lingered (I even went to get everything checked out, eventually) but I didn't miss any runs because of it. I wasn't feeling ill so I always decided to go out and if it was a problem I would walk -it never was because I didn't cough at all while running (I am not speedy so the wind was not whistling over my tonsils!) The cough always waited until after my run.
No idea why this would be but the run always made me feel better.
