Just did first run of 4th week having had to repeat variations of week 3 twice. Back is not happy and various other parts complaining but I am hanging in there. Seriously wondering if running is the right thing to do although completing two 5 min runs was impressive - for me!

Hi! Well done on your 5 minute runs - it's a great feeling knowing you've done it.
I'm wondering what your back issues might be. Do you have an existing problem? I wondered perhaps whether you could do with some core strength exercises on your non-running days to build up supporting muscles for your back? There's lots of programmes around but the NHS Strength and Flex is a good option.
When you do your post-run stretches, do you include a lower back stretch?
Have you got proper running shoes and all that?
Hope it's going alright!
I have back and hip issues, too. I nearly always take two-three rest days, walk every day, do Pilates a few times a week, see a good sports Physio when I start to get twinges and to reassure me that running- my running - is ok. I think building core and general muscle strength is vital , however you do it. But you might find some professional input useful.
I have done Pilates for several years but not so much recently with the running and strength and flex programme. I am taking it slowly and repeat weeks where necessary. Every week starts out with - will I make it this week or will something else go wrong. BUT I do think its helping so will persevere. thanks for your input!
