Having posted yesterday about hardly recognising myself getting excited planning a new Sunday running route, the new me managed to amaze again this morning when she decided to get out of bed and go for a run despite the near horizontal sleet storm going on outside because if she didn't run today she'd not get another chance to go out before Tuesday evening!
Did have to tweak the new route slightly as didn't fancy the steep icy bridge over the river. However had a great time running with Laura's C25k+ stamina podcast (am really pleased I decided to give these a go) and when the 35 mins was up found I'd run 4.8k - if I'd have realised sooner I'd have carried on to the 5k (and almost certainly a PB)!
Still the new me is very pleased with herself (though have to admit the old me is planning a pain au chocolat for breakfast😉)
Have fun Sunday running everyone!

I’ve just done week 3 run 3 in the pouring rain. First rain run, so haven’t got the gear sorted out. Fiddling with a hood and shoelace coming undone didn’t help matters & distracted me. Felt stitch coming on too - but happily that disappeared. Slightly apprehensive about running for a full 5 mins on week 4 but will give it my best
The snow was definitely better to run in than the rain (though at some angles it gets in your eyes!)
I have a great little Karrimor running jacket (was really cheap in a sale) with no hood - I find it's only my hands that get really cold once I'm running so with that and a pair of running gloves I'm fine.
Really don't worry about the next week as it rolls around - the programme is really good and will challenge you - but not more than you're ready for - weeks 4-6 were my wonder weeks - you'll be truly amazed at what your body can do!
Well done New You!.. firstly for not letting the sleet put you off, secondly for completing the stamina podcast, thirdly for running 4.8k (a whisker off that 5k)...😊
Well done - I had bits of ice yesterday - dread to think how slippery it was for you this morning. Looks nice out there - but looks can be deceiving - well done for staying upright.
It's a lovely park - but I do have to drive there. I try and reward myself with a lovely route at the weekend as payback for the plodding up and down the ring road I have to do on dark evenings after work!
Brilliant! Sounds like a perfect run...I like Laura’s stamina podcasts too, haven’t tried one for a while though so I might throw one in the mix this week...thanks for the reminder!! Well done on your run & hope the pain au chocolat was very enjoyable 😉
