Hi there and welcome to, What is your Week ? January (3)

Hopefully, lots of you will be joining in with this; it is a great support to everyone.

The idea of, "What is your Week" ?

Every week we are going to put up a post, so you can add in a little post underneath, to say what week you are planning to do this week.

Sample post (feel free to put as much or as little as you like)

“Hi I am Oldfloss, and this week, I am doing Week 1, and really looking forward to it.”

We are growing so much at the moment and Realfoodieclub wanted to have a little fun post ,so we can see who is on what week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.

It will help other runners to know they are not alone with their weeks, and help everyone feel supported.

Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.

At the end of the month there will be a Certificate for you to download and keep; just a little memento of the fact you have completed a whole month of the program. Another full month of running for you.

If you have just graduated, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum as well for graduates.

I will add all the names from this week under this post. Every week for the month of January the names will roll over into another post.

Let's get a good list going so we can support each other.

(Come on you lurkers, you can do it as well. ?)

Wishing you all a happy healthy week.

Oldfloss x

This week will be week 3 for me too. I did my blustery week 2, run 3 this morning and thoroughly loved it. I'm looking forward to the next week 🙂

It did thank you. I went slow and steady....extra slow. Followed by stretches and an Epsom salt bath. Next run will be Wednesday for me. Thank you for the encouragement, it really does help.

I'm going to have a go at running for at least 40minutes this week, and another try at running 3x a week (because I only managed twice last week😦)

Just done my final run of week 2 in cold drizzly rain. App really helps me keeping track of progress and is good motivator! Normally I would use rain as an excuse to stay in doors so fact that I went out in horrible cold winter evening is a big thing!

Thanks for post really nice idea 😀

Tomorrow will be w7r2. It’s a little thrilling to type that; when I decided to start walking to improve my fitness last October, I didn’t imagine that my weight and asthma would let me run. By the end of November, my legs wanted to try, and here I am doing C25k :) I’m running and walking on alternate days, and as the weeks have gone by the walking is getting faster and the running slower. I’m also doing the 30 day beginner squat challenge, so I ache, but in a very happy and positive way.

I’m just a bit behind you and feeling great too - definitely thrilling! 👍🏻 Hope you have a good run 2!

Just completed Week 7 Run 1 and actually can’t believe that I’m the same person who once struggled to run for one minute at a time! Felt amazing by the end of minute 24 so when Sarah said to pick up the pace if I could I went for it - definitely on a bit of a buzz now! Can only hope the rest of the week feels as good, but I’ll be ready for it either way 😜👊🏻 x

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply toHephz89

Keep it slow, and steady, relax and let the legs find that glorious happy pace:) Well done:)

It was so hard, wasn’t it, that first week, to keep digging in to find the next 60 seconds? And having done that, 7 times after the first minute that I thought might kill me I now know I can do anything.

Back to basics

On Saturday 6th January I did my first parkrun, which I have been building up to for months! I’m a treadmill runner really so this is a complete change for me. I was surprised how much walking I needed to do and got a time of 38.36. Last Saturday on my second parkrun I seemed to walk more but got 2 minutes off the time.

I am going back to basics and doing the slow and steady manta. A relearning of technique to help improve my performance, and there’s plenty of room for improvement!!

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply toLiz-is-trying

On the way, slow and steady and enjoy!

Hmmm...not sure what the week will hold. My app failed so may need to download podcast to do my week 2 ... There we go... now my target this week will be to start Week 2 on my C25K revisited.

Oldfloss profile image

Well done you..just keep it steady..no rush needed:)

MotherPip profile image

Well having just checked the forecast I think I may be a fairweather runner.. 45+mph winds sleet and hail and very cold here for tonight and tomorrow...so I agree, no rush!

Still keeping up with 3 runs a week. Finding the shorter runs hard because I’m going too fast. I have a mental block with this for some reason! Much better at going slow on the longer runs. Looking forward to it getting slightly warmer out there - it’s so cold 🌧 happy running everyone 😊

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply toSusieq174

Well done.. try changing your routes, or looking around more... :)

This week has been bad for running. I did 5k on Sunday, but then had really bad headache everyday until today and couldn’t face running. This morning I had yoga and swimming, so it will be tomorrow that I run next, all being well.

I had a hysterectomy on Monday which has slowed me up a bit to say the least and have got to wait at least 8 weeks before I can do any proper exercise! I got up to week 5 before hand so am confident I will eventually get there again in the spring! Meanwhile happy running to everyone else 😊
