I am a week 1 casualty. Have done something to my knee and it’s extremely painful. Run 1 was good, but something happened to my knee on run 2 and now I can only walk painfully, let alone run. Should I have tried to strengthen my knees first? I’m 60, female, very active, slightly overweight, and a novice runner. Any suggestions?

That's tough.

So long as you take it easy and go nice and slow you should be ok.

Have you read this guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... it's my answer many of your questions.

Give yourself a few days rest and try again. Good luck.

Thanks IannodaTruffe, that’s very helpful.

There’s a strength and flex podcast too that many do on rest days to support running
