Totally Gutted!

I have just completed week 8 (and had even begun planning how I would celebrate at the end of W9) when, last night, I fell off a climbing wall and broke my leg. I can't believe I'm not going to be able to run for months. This is the first time in my life I've been anywhere close to fit and I'm pretty devastated. Anyone got any tips about how to get back into it after an injury like this? I assume it'll be back to week 1 when the leg is strong enough. Urgh!

Thanks x

Really sorry to hear your terrible news. I broke my leg a couple of years ago and it seemed an interminable period. But! Bones mend and muscles build. You should be referred to a physio when the cast comes off and I would seek their advice about getting back to full fitness. In the meantime rest up and try not to be too fed-up. Hugs x

You very much will have to back to W1 and with a recently broken leg you will have to keep your pace minimal while strength builds again. Follow a physio's advice and you may be able to start non weight bearing exercise before you start running again.

Take care and be patient.

So sorry to read this - poor you, and so frustrating! 😫The important thing to hang on to is that running will still be there for you when you have recovered properly. As IannodaTruffe says, do listen to any medical and rehab advise. I had to stop running for four months at Week 8 when I had a nasty calf tear...and started the programme pretty much from scratch again. I graduated over two years ago now...you will too. In the meantime, I hope your recovery goes well.

Ouch! That is really horrible for you...

Well, the folks have given you some great advice.. and you will get back to it...:)

And maybe, as and when you are feeling up for it.. some upper body exercises :)

That is absolutely rotten luck.

The good news (such as there is any) is that all that fitness you've worked so hard to build up will pay dividends in terms of healing from this injury.

Thanks - that is a good point. I'm already grateful for the extra strength in my 'good' leg that is helping me hobble around.

Oh no 🤦‍♀️ that’s really bad luck feel for you and you were so close to finishing hope your recovery goes well and speedy and your soon back on 2 legs. If you are young and fit and maintain good health your bones will heal soon and before you know you will be back. 😀🏃‍♀️👍

I have had 3 operations on my leg, when you are able to do non-leg weighting exercises a good app is sitfit exercise- it is very basic but will help you get back into exercise before you can bear the weight on your foot- there’s 3 different stages with warm up and cool down- I hope this helps and I wish you a speedy recovery
