C25K - Take Two!

So, here I am, back again, starting from the very beginning again in the hopes I'll actually complete the programme this time after my chronic pain put paids to my last attempt over Summer. However, I'm on new pain medication now, so I'm hopeful I won't have to stop so close to the end again (which was crushing - I'd come so far...), but we'll see I guess? :) I've also decided to only run twice a week (instead of the recommended three times) to give the pain a bit of time to settle down, and to hopefully give myself a fighting chance at being able to complete the programme. Slow and steady, as Oldfloss always likes to say :) And yes, it was more difficult (the damn pain made itself very much known today), but I still managed to do the first run of week one, and that's a start. We'll see how we go from there.

Happy New Year everyone! :)

Thank you! And will do :)

Oh, good luck! Looking on the positive side, you know what to expect and how to work the plan. And I bet you have some residual fitness that will help.

Is the pain caused by running?

If so, you need intervention as opposed to painkillers.

The pain is not caused by running - I have chronic neuropathic pain which began over 2 years ago. I only started running last summer but my previous medication was not very good at managing the pain (the only option currently available to me), and I had to stop. My new medication is better, so I'm hoping I'll be able to start running again as I really enjoyed it.

Hi Adler nice to see you back and good luck. I stopped running after graduation and a couple of park runs but am thinking of starting again so may well join you when my son goes back to uni next week. I know how painful it was for you last time so glad you have new meds lets hope they do the trick for you. Best of luck, I'll try and catch up :)

Thanks Bunty! I hope you manage to get back into it too :) And yeah, things weren't great last time, but it's ok; have new painkillers now, so hopefully things will be better this time ^-^ And thank you, you too! :)

Hi. Good luck in your new attempt.

I too have chronic pain (back) and so will probably stick to twice weekly too. I don’t suppose it matters as long as we’re progressing. Go us!👍

Thank you :) I'm glad there's someone else out there with chronic pain who's running (though I'm obviously sorry that you're having to deal with chronic pain :/ It's one of those situations where I'm glad I'm not alone, but also, I would rather you weren't suffering, if that makes sense?). And yeah, as long as we keep going, it should be fine - slow and steady :)

Good luck to you too! ^-^
