For some reason this week I’m not enjoying the thought of getting up and going for a run🤔 we previously iv loved it but this week feels like utter effort to get my self motivated. Anyone with me on this? I’m hoping I snap out of it as iv been doing 3, 5k runs a week but I just can’t be arsed this week 😑
Don’t look forward 😞: For some reason this week... - Couch to 5K
Don’t look forward 😞
I'm with you. The thought of getting out of a nice warm bed to go running in this weather is frankly quite nuts. This is what the program has done to us. All my friends/family think I'm going through some sort of mid/late life crisis.
It's remembering how good I feel after I've done it that gets me out of bed. Or will do when I'm running again.
Hi Megzy, you really don't need to run a 5k every time. As you are running three times a week you could do one shorter run, a 5k and a 30 min run...
Have you looked at the c25k+ podcasts, there are three different runs for graduates to have a go at..
Different routes, new playlists all help to make your runs interesting.
If you feel ready and you want to you, you could look on the Bridge to 10k site where Ju Ju has a great up to 10k six week plan...
Also remember, you are not a machine and don't have to push every run, sometimes your body responds well to a few days rest from running too.
Your mojo is still there.. you are doing brilliantly, be kind to yourself.😊xx
Cold, mist & ice are not really helpful
Don't stop moving!!..sometimes a nice relaxing walk is useful

Jan is spot on, I've just returned from a couple of weeks in Lanzarote cycling, keep that to yourself though 😉, and prior to leaving I was a 4 times a week runner up to 8,9k but since returning have just run to 30mins every day, getting me back into it very nicely!
I agree with Bluebirdrunner that you don't have to push for 5k each time.
However, I will also add that it won't hurt for you to take a week out. In fact it could help recharge your batteries and get you itching to get out there again.
As we come to the shortest day, I think we are all feeling a bit zapped.
I think a week out once in a while is a good thing. Just as long as it doesn't become two weeks...
Thankyou all for you comments and feedback. I went for just a 20min run and it wasn’t to bad 😁
There are quite a few of us who experience Missing Mojo syndrome (healthunlocked.com/couchto5... but it’s usually only a temporary ailment and there are several things you can do to overcome it.
As others have mentioned, trying a new route may help, or running your usual route the other way round. How about a new playlist, I love my 1980s music but have to change things around or I get bored.
Another good motivator is buying a new piece of running kit. I have to do 1km for each £ spent.
🤓
Having a week off will do you the world of good, but maybe slotting in a couple of walks, which may tempt your legs into further activity.
My Mojo went awol for a while about a month ago but I managed to find it, so I’m sure yours is just around the corner waiting for you.
Good luck. 🤓
It's all about the reason, will power and discipline. We are not pros so all this is optional and boils down to very simple choices and that is whether you want to run or you don't want to run.
Yes, the weather is not great but l still go out three times per week because l want to get to 21K, cold , wet or not.
On the plus side, nobody is pushing anyone to do anything that they don't want to.
Just be careful that the week doesn't turn into two - three or more weeks. I didn't go to Parkrun one Saturday morning, nor the next............. finally went back after 6 or 7 months I was still running maybe 2 or 3 times a week on my own, some weeks.
Weather does put me off, e.g. ice, snow, rain, but I go to the gym and use the treadmill.
