So after shaking off the comments from the other day and thanks to all the support I got myself into the gym this morning (I do one treadmill run a week)... can't remember the last time I felt self conscious in there but was determined π
I started the second week of the bridge to 10k plan (guessed a 3k would be on there) with some intervals and for the first time i run without caring what anyone thought and quite enjoyed it...
Real test will be back on the streets Sunday but I think I am ready π

Go for it...remember what we all said...we all think you are an absolute superstar & its true...you have totally got this xx
You will be fine π you are the one who is focusing on bettering yourself for yourself...these people are not worth wasting your energy on!!!i dread to think.what i look like as i am dragging myself around & i cant run anywhere near as far as you can yet!!!just remember this is for YOU & anyone else can go take a long jump off a short pier(thats the polite version haha π€£π)xx
Do NOT let those idiots put you off. Itβs a confidence issue too. If they whistle at me I just assume itβs because Iβm still hot for an old bird (but then my daughter tells me Im vain, at least she did in her teens). On the other hand, I ran in the dark for the first few weeks so that people couldnt see me puffing along at snailβs pace with a red face, so I guess I know what you mean. But you are fast and run te distance, so you should be proud to be seen. It occurs to me that they also might have been shouting and hooting because they are jealous you can run - so nothing to do with size etc.
Tooting's fine but it's the comments that got to me... as my partner told me "they wouldn't be honking for support" (I came close to kicking him in his family jewels)... I am going to have to invest in something to make myself seen and see what happens π Part of me knows I should be proud as I cover the distance so maybe I should do it and stick two fingers up at everyone who has made a derogatory remark π
In cricket the answer to sledging is to score a few more runs.
I honked my horn...you ran 6k.
Which of us gained cardiovascular fitness and extended their life? Who felt a sense of exhilaration and achievement when they got home? Which of us did anything today they can actually be proud of?
Very!!!i somestimes think that husbands(including mine)would be fsr happier if we stayed at home washing up & cooking if you know what i mean π you are nailing it...dont stop now x
That's just it... he kicks me out... he's the reason I started the programme... we both set goals- he gave up on his and I have achieved mine- I wanted to have run a 5k by Christmas πππ
Well you have done brilliantly π just go.for it regardless of what he is doing.my husband does trail running & can easily go for 15-20 miles but is not very encouraging as far as my running goes!!!so i have decided to not care or be bothered about his attitudes!!!do it for you x
not all men teri =) you'll find it's the ones that take the Mick or make derogatory marks are the ones hiding behind their own insecurities. People like that generally change onky when they're outgrown if you know what I mean. Got any tips for the 1st week agony? I'm just starting out lol
God that feels like so long ago... I had lots of leg rubs and hot baths... I struggled at the start as my ankle I had previously sprainedwas playing up... x
I'm feeling that some strange set of dark interplanetary forces had aligned last Sunday and brought out creatures from the underworld in your neck of the woods. This Sunday, I'm pretty sure that karma dictates that you shall own that run.
You're a runner now, so it is your responsibility to run! Good luck and remember to carry the support of your fellow runners with you.
Yep, Mercury retrograding, Mars opposite Uranus - all sorts of conflict and aggression going on with communication, not to mention computer woes and issues with buying, selling and deliveries...plus the supermoon bringing out all the feral instincts in people.
Well done you! It took a lot to overcome your experience from the other day and you did it. Two fingers up to the idiots that have nothing better to do than put others down. You are better than all of them!
Jerks are jerks - they will show up every so often. Its how we respond to ourselves that matters. And you are doing great. Just keep doing your thing. You got this!
I apologise for those members of my gender who are such dic*heads, but we are not all like that, I can assure you........... although I do often think the world might be a better place if women were in charge.
You are doing something amazing for yourself and have already proved you have dedication and perseverance and with each run you are developing a runner's body and mind.
Stay above the fray, be calm and serene. There is little point rising to the sort of baiting you have suffered, it is the action of little minds, so don't give them the satisfaction.
You will be absolutely fabulous π you are a real runner and they are just childish (seriously putting others down to make themselves feel better how pathetic) I know which one I would prefer to be! You go for it on Sunday!
