Going reasonably well, legs are coping and not too bad with the breathing, but I have found my feet 'tying up' over the last few runs. Will this go off as I improve, or is there some way to get over this?

? Not sure what tying up means?

I suppose if it was in my calf I would think of it as cramp, but it's not quite like that, and I can continue through it; it goes off when I get to the walking/recovery time but comes back again afetr a while as I resume running.

My toes used to go numb when I first started, this was because my laces were a bit tight and I should have bought trainers a half size bigger as your feet swell a bit when you run. Does this sound similar to you....

I don't think that's the problem - I got new running shoes from the local sports shop who spent time making sure they were right in particular that there was room in the toes

Hi hblewett , I’m not really in a position to offer advice as I’ve only just completed wk 5 , however , is it possible that you’re slightly overdoing it on your rest days , or maybe your legs are just adjusting to the newer demands that the programme is introducing them to . Whatever the reason , you’re doing really well , keep enjoying it and don’t be too hard on yourself

Try a few extra warm up exercises. Just gentle warming the joints for example circles with the ankles, open/ curl your toes, wiggle your ankles up and down...... in other words give your feet a bit of extra attention before each run. Stretch after each run.

Make sure your shoes are big enough.... mine are one and half sizes bigger than my other shoes, with a wide toe box. I dont like my laces tight around the foot , just at the closing point.

Good luck runner, keep up the good work.
