I don't have a treadmill at home and it is -30 outside so no going out. Can I plan to run 5k at home? My ultimate dream is to be able to run 5k in less than 25 mins by end of May (42 birthday). Is there any plans out there to follow and achieve this goal ? TIA

Did you see my post where i ran round the ground floor of my house for 25 minutes, due to icy pavements outside? I managed it but was dizzy from turning around so much. Depends how large your house is. i wouldn't want to do it too often, but it is doable.
We have had someone who started in her living room, but I am not sure she ever completed and we more recently had someone who ran the entire C25k in her back garden, before she ventured outside.
Anything is possible...........including you running outside. if you want to get sub 25minutes by May, then, unless your house is very large, you are going to have to head outside.
You don't say why you want to run in your house rather than outdoors, but I can tell you there are very few on this forum who did not feel self conscious about possibly being seen by friends and neighbours when we first stepped outside to run. The incredible thing is that if you go outside, hardly anyone will pay you any attention. If you do get comments they are more likely to positive than derogatory and running boosts confidence and self esteem to such an extent that in a very short time you won't give a damn what anybody else thinks.
Don't be put off, you can do this. We are here to help.
It is not about being self-conscious at all. It is about the weather. Here in Canada, the average temperature in winter is -25 to -40. As a beginner, I don't have the right gear to go running in this weather. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind go running outside.
With the wind chill factor, it must be unbelievably cold. You would need protective gear to stop your breath freezing in your nostrils. Have you thought of getting a foldaway motorised treadmill? I just got one, and while I would rather run outside, I wasnt able to when we had snow and ice here because the pavements were thick with ice. Trust me, and I speak as one who has tried it, it’s a lot easier than running round your house. And mine didnt cost hundreds of $$$.
Where in Canada are you? I'm in Canada as well. Much of my winter running gear is actually from Mark's Work Wearhouse - the same stuff I wear on my way to work. I know a lot of people here are seasonal runners as well - they start every year in April or so.
-30? wow. Imho, you would need a treadmill under these circumstances . Good luck!
I understand not wanting to go out in that temperature running indoors without a treadmill will be hard. Do you have stairs, for fitness I would run up and down your stairs and do Stregnth exercises and leave the distance, that way when you get out the door you will of strengthened your joints and muscles In preparation for starting to run. I am not sure what country you are in I but I would look around for any deals on gyms. Maybe try and get a free trial for a month or something like that and use thier treadmills for that time. Until you can go outdoors.
Thank you for the suggestions. I'm already doing a workout program at home ( Core de force) .I was thinking about C25K since it is my dream to be able to run this distance without stopping. I will try the stairs option. Thank you again
Is the weather consistently -30 for the winter where you are? I have run in weather down to -24C, probably more like -28C with the windchill. I'll tell you it's doable, with the right gear, though I had the pleasure to start in the summer many years ago. If you live in that kind of climate, you might already have stuff you can start with. An alternative is to go to a local gym and use their machines.
If you do want to run outside, I recommend starting with small loops around the block until you have both your sense of running figured out, and how to dress and it takes a little experimentation to figure out what exactly to wear. It's very easy to overdress.
