Well we finally got the snow they were promising, around 4-5 inches I think. And before the temp dropped later in the aft, I decided to go out with my stick-on snow cleats, and give it a whirl this morn. Never having actually run in snow, I have to say it was really nice. The temp wasn’t too cold and the trees were all covered in the white stuff. I had Postal Service on the headphones and all was right in the world. The cleats were amazing for traction. No slippage at all. Not bad for $15 from Costco. That is, until one popped off my shoe without me noticing on the way home. When I finally noticed, it was too late and I had to join a work meet. Then my wife, who had been walking with her friends pops in to ask “Hey did you lose a snow cleat?” Why yes I did. And so she found it on her walk, thought maybe it was her husband’s, but thought “he cant be so daft as to not even realize its off his shoe, can he?”. So she hung it off a nearby fence. But yes. Yes I can be that daft. 🙃 After driving back to retrieve it, I now will pay more attention when wearing these things.

Snowy run today with cleats
See, I'm not so crazy 😜. The winter snowy runs are so peaceful and beautiful and force you to ssslllloooooowwww down which makes for a very enjoyable run. I've lost a cleat before, if it is slippery enough you know right away but I have had to back track searching before as well. I'm really missing our snow - brown and dirty with a slushy mucky mess around here 😩
No you are not It was slower than usual and quite relaxed. I even tried the Niko Niko style baza spoke about ( m.youtube.com/watch?v=9L2b2... ). My shoe soles are so thick that I could barely feel the spikes so Im not surprised I didn’t notice. Yes the snow is really nice while its here, not so much when it melts away to muddy slush. Hopefully you get some more before the holidays start. Something tells me you will 😀
The niko niko method looks very interesting. I found the cleats annoying to use before with my road runners but they are much more comfortable with my trail shoes. The thicker sole makes all the difference. I'm glad you had a reason to try them out. There's no snow in our immediate future but I'll keep hoping 🙏🤞❄️☃️
Yes I’m not sure I could pull that method off long term, but its interesting. Glad I ran outside yesterday. Temp dropped to -20 this morn. Likely running the 10.5 indoors today. Lots of loops!
You're a running machine!!! Don't get dizzy with all those laps 😄. I'm hoping to get out for a run after I finish some Christmas baking this morning. We're not overly cold, just breezy (as usual)
Well done for getting out there, Rog !
Very icy and slippy here but the rain is now managing to wash most of it away , so if this lurgy I seem to be developing doesnt stick around for long , Im hoping to get 2 runs in this week ( at last ! ) xxx
Thanks Poppy. Hopefully you can get your runs in and the lurgy fully clears up. I’ve been fighting off something lately too. Tis the season I guess. On Tylenol cold meds now which seem to help. We are in a deep freeze for a couple of days, so I did my long run indoors on the track this aft. At 0.10km a loop it was about 100 or so laps around the little track! 😳 But it was warm and I mostly had the place to myself which was nice. I needed the run today.
100 Laps !!! Well done Roger xxx
Wow! 100 laps! That takes some serious dedication. That's a lot of round and round......
🎶You spin me right round baby right round, like a record baby, right round, round, round 🎶
Sorry, dork patrol 🤓. Couldn't help myself 🤣🤣
I'm still stuck in the 80's after my awesome playlist today 😁
