I keep getting ads for virtual runs on Facebook... what exactly is a virtual run? How does it work? Can anyone recommend one?

I can't always guarantee I can get to a proper event due to childcare but looking for something as an aim, maybe to earn some bling πŸ€”

Is it as simple as that? Do I need proof?

They do ask for proof that you've done it, one of the free photo ne apps is fine to use. Generally though you've paid your money, you claim the medal. After all if you haven't done it you are only cheating yourself.

What sort of photo apps? I track all my runs on an app I have for my gym so have the proof... just signed up for one that runs all year so just making sure I fully understand x

Sorry, I didn't notice autocorrect when I replied. Didn't mean photo app just a tracker app like strava or map my run but any app, like the one you already have is great. Enjoy your challenge.

There are lots of sites out there, all doing a similar thing - choose a distance, pay your entry fee and run the prescribed distance in the time period, usually within a month. Then you email proof you've done it, or just tell them you have and you get the medal posted to you. The good part is that a portion of your entry goes to charity, so you can choose a run close to your heart. Often, they are the smaller charities, so a good way to help them. They are a good way of keeping motivation going at this time of year.

I've used virtual runner uk.

A few of us use this site..great fun...:)

I am a lone runner, but it is a great feeling to give something to the different charities and get some bling.. running with our friends on here..e.g. Remembrance Day :) All knowing e are out there, somewhere, running together:)

You have to have proof.. e.g. off your phone etc etc..I always photo my Garmin at the end of the run..husband photoed the result on his cross trainer :)

virtualrunneruk.com/

It explains all about it and how it works..there are others to choose from too:)
