If i went out in that, i would be flat on my back within five seconds. But, if you think you won't slip, then layers. Hasn't reached us yet, but -2 when i took the dogs out this morning and a hard frost.

I’m so torn with what to do! Really want to go for my run but terrified I’ll fall. I hit a bit of ice on tues and it was horrible

i wouldn't risk it, it would be daft to interrupt your running because of injury. I wish I had a treadmill for days like this.

Although if you could navigate to a grassy area, you would be ok.

The gym it less that 5 mins along the road from me and I’m tempted to go along there, but never run on a treadmill and scared I’ll not manage and embarrass myself in front of any gym bunnies 😂

Do it. I ran on a treadmill when I had my gait tested and it's ok. Just make sure you switch the speed up a stage at a time. it can be set very slow. and don't worry about gym bunnies, they are too busy worrying about what they look like, and trying to perfect whatever they are doing, and will be totally self absorbed. If it helps, I dont think you are expected to run long on it. When I asked at the leisure centre where I swim, he was talking about a ten minute session, and people expect to do intervals on it, so nobody will think you are odd if you run and walk for a few minutes at a time.

You wont embarrass yourself I promise. For starters, people are only ever concentrating on themselves at the gym (I soon learned after having that fear myself). But I would find a pace that mimics your brisk walk, and then at first, don't got any higher than 1kmph for your run. If that's too easy, notch it up 0.1 or 0.2, and if it's too much, notch it down. It helps as well to run on a slight gradient.

Wow - that looks....fun! Can you put it off a couple of hours, to see if its thawed?

I’m away at lunch time today so kind of pushed for time 😪

Hmm, maybe just go out and take baby-steps, run on gritting road parts if you can....if its that bad, i probably wouldnt risk it, you dont want to get injured, especially if your going away too.

Hmmm... Ice and feet aren't the best friends. Indoor cross training?

Go to the gym! Use a treadmill... I fell off a treadmill once and no one batted an eyelid... only cut my hands.. it's not as bad as you think x

Mmmm, it’s not a question of motivation... more of safety. Don’t do it, it’s not worth the risk.

I’m sorry I don’t, I have a bad history with ice and it always win, when it is like that I take myself down to the gym and use the treadmill.

If I was a professional athlete and my mortgage depended on me getting out there then I would do it - although the chances are I would be conducting my winter training somewhere more temperate anyway.

However, given that I am not, I would take that sprinkling of snow as a sign that today was a 'no-run' day.

Only with winter boots and after toast and Marmalade... think Paddington.

I wouldn’t run in it because of safety, especially if a newbie...

But if you have very grippy trail shoes then that maybe different.

Oh I would love to !! Crispy frosty morning !! But then again haven’t done it yet as I live in Thailand where the temperature ranges from 30-35C !! Which also has its challenges !! Go for it and enjoy ! Maybe you need anti slip on your running shoes though ?
