So true...this is a real favourite here but one that needs repeating 😊
Like it! Nice way of looking at it 🐌
Love this it's so true.
I walked my first parkrun the other week... your post has reminded me of the experience, and it changed my life.
The parkrun I was at was a two lap affair, so after about 10 minutes those rockstars capable of 18 minute 5Ks were starting to lap me... lots of them said “well done” to me as they passed. I thought the comment was the wrong way round and I kept plodding round. When I got to the finish all the marshals were there and more than a few runners, including some of the elite. Think I got more cheers than Mo did in 2012. Ok they’d probably been for a coffee and come back to the start line, but they didn’t half make me feel great about myself. A few mentions of the words in the meme... and it’s 100% true. Soon I will run it and wait for the last person to finish, clapping and cheering them all home.
Aw that’s so nice!
I really want to do a parkrun but I work Saturday mornings atm! Only for a couple more months whilst I finish uni, hopefully by then I’ll be a seasoned 5ker! (I’m on week 9 atm)
Also scared to go somewhere on my own ahaha!
But by no means will I be the fastest (I’ll hopefully be sub 40 mins but no faster than that!) but if I’m not last then I’ll definitely stick around!
If you’re near me, I’ll come walk it again so you can’t be last 😂
You’re never alone at parkrun... when you go, get there early, tell them it’s your first time and you’ll have so much support you won’t believe it.
39 minutes and 59 seconds is years faster than the you that you decided to leave sat on the couch not so long ago. Keep going... proud of you.
Ha I’m in Manchester but don’t mind a bit of a travel 😃
And that’s very true!
I’m 13 miles from Manchester! PM when you’re not working Saturday and ready to go and I’ll suggest where I walked my first, and by then I may be able to run some of it. If you want super flat parkrun though, go to Stretford... I think it has 8ft or elevation change and you run some of it on a track.
You’ll never be last at parkrun, there’s usually a ‘tailwalker’ who’s job it is to come last.....so, do it, do it, do it....a warm welcome awaits you, go along, join in, and most of all, have fun....

How could I forget the tail walker? My best mate for 53 minutes and the only bibbed person not waiting at the line... wouldn’t have blamed her if she’d hit a sprint finish at the 200m board though
I love parkrun.....I made the mistake of thinking I ‘had’ to run 5k, and within a certain amount of time, how wrong was I, it’s one if the best inventions ever, and a highlight of my week, I love volunteering too, that way I get to cheer everybody on, and if course there’s those tempting milestone t-shirts that keep you coming back for more.........😉

Well done UnfitNoMore - that is what Parkrun is all about. I'm glad it was a good experience for you. 👏😀
I wasn’t expecting it... it was one of the more we’ll to do parts of Greater Manchester, and I had expectations of who’s got the best gear wars and the likes... my bad, I shouldn’t make assumptions. Probably the finest group of people I ever had the fortune to be in the company of. I’m looking forward to going to some other ones for comparison. I was thinking I needed running shoes and damn good ones... one guy there said I’d run differently when I became a runner so I’d be wasting my money right now.
Love it!! ❤️
