Well that didn’t go to plan 👎🏼

Ok so tried to brave just a 20min jog this morning but it hurt all the way round the run. Stupid bum cheek and down the back of my leg. So I’m telling myself to have a 2 week break from running and then I will see how it feels. I’m absolutely devastated to be honest with you because I have only just graduated and now I’m having to slow it down. I’m worried my stamina will phase out and I won’t return. I’m doing upper body fitness in between another lots of yoga because I’m still trying to exceed my fitness and lose weight. I’m gutted 😞

Chin up Megzy - take the rest, and make the most of it, and then you will come back better, might take you a week or so to get back up to speed, but you wont lose your stamina too much. Think positive. :-)

Do u suffer from sciatica ? It sounds like the pain is coming from ur scaitic nerve which runs down ur bum cheek and down ur leg ! Maybe get it checked xx

I went to the doctors and they said that it was all to do with my running and she assessed me and said it all seems fine. And she told me to carry on running but this morning it hurt all the way round not massively but it was niggling x

Oh Megzy, so sorry to hear this. I have a wee hip problem that started with bum cheek pain - also felt sciatic to me. Mine has improved immensely by doing the figure of 4 stretch twice a day and a bit of myofascial release with a tennis ball. Now trying glute strengthening exercises. My condition is not so painful though and I can still run. I strongly urge you to visit your GP again - doesn't sound like you got much useful advice (or even a proper diagnosis!) the first time. Sometimes you have to be persistent with GPs. Demand a referral to a physio!

Take care and chin up. x

Thankyou yes I will go back I think. I can walk fine and normally when I run it doesn’t hurt but this morning it did. My friend is a personal trainer and he said the main muscle in my bum cheek is knotted and he pushed his finger and massaged it and it instantly felt better. But I will definitely go back for a second opinion x

Physio or massage and regular stretching of your gluteus and piriformis muscles would do a world of good to get you back on the running train

Thanks so much I’m on the case with it xx

Hmmm - that makes me think you might benefit from rolling aforementioned bum cheek on a tennis ball! You can find instructions on how to do this properly on the internet. 🎾 If you fancy trying it. Be warned, it hurts! 😮

It’s funny you say that because iv just started that today and it feels better xx

Take the break and see a sports physio. Continuing with a persistent pain is asking for more serious trouble.

You will hardly notice any drop in condition over a two week break, but do start up agin nice and gently.

Oh you ...big hug!

How sensible to keep up with your other fitness regime.. I had longer than two weeks after my calf tear, and I an still here and running now.. as you will be :)

Maybe.. post about your other exercise adventures whilst on the IC, it could be helpful to others in the same boat? :)

But, as IannodaTruffe says...if it is persists head to a Sports Physio :)
