been 16 stone for some time now, doesn't feel like i can lose any more but to be fair i dont look stocky any more, just tall. current times for me are 23:14 for a 5k which was in july and at the moment im about 1:30 minute off that pace. my last flat 10k distance was 50:11 a few weeks ago and blew my PB by around 3 minutes.
i just wonder if i have hit my level, its not likely im gonna take it too serious , just stick to my easy runs though the week and hard parkrun. and any local races that pop up (its all about the tshirt :D)

I could only dream of your times 😀. I know when I am working on my pace the thing that pushes me a bit further is interval training, I find that is the only thing that works for me. I have been at stages when I thought that is it pace wise but a month or so of weekly intervals has pushed the pace a little bit faster. I tend to tag them on to the end of my slow runs as I didn’t like the thought of just going out for interval training on its own.
There are two levels, pros and us. Pros have various records as targets and entry levels they must hit in hope that they would be allowed to run for glory.
Our level is whatever we want it to be. Whatever makes us happy in our pressure free amateur world.
If speed is your thing then, unless you're are the top end in the world, there will always be a guy to overlap you, as l saw that kid whizzing past me, hitting 5K in 15min.
Don't know your age but the older you are and the faster you go, the sooner you'll be stopped by injuries. And this is coming from experience, not speculation
I'm heavy , not particularly over weight though. It depends on age of course. That is a great time. I would have envied your time a few months ago. Now though, I see that it is pointless comparing yourself to others. Little kids will zoom past you in park runs so who cares if you get 23 or 24 minutes? MrRun is right about the faster you run if you are older, the higher the chance of injury. I think avoiding injury is much more important than time. If you do park run they give you an age grading - ok, it is not a weight grading but it is enough for me anyway. Anyway, I'm due to break 30 minutes and I'm delighted. I have been due to break through the 30 minute barrier since july but still haven't done it!
was just curious to see if other people had similar times in the same "100kg club" yes everyone are different ages and sizes but i do love to beat my PBs, my easy runs(jogs) im much slower, so i have the discipline and it motivates me to keep going, i have a massive food appetite and i dont want to stop
but not competing with anyone thats for sure. just myself.
oh I do a recent 10k race I did I wasn't going for PB but loved it so much, it was mostly the wonderful location and the beauty of not knowing what to expect. I blinked and it was over.
Someone could be the same weight as you, but a different age, fitter or less fit and with a different experience level to you, so the comparison is facile and will only tell you if you are faster or slower than them.
The age grading system used by parkrun is probably a better way to compare yourself to others. I have never heard of a weight grading system.
