I did my own Poppy run this morning, gave Sarah a lie in and used Map My Run so I could be sure I got to 5km instead of conking out at 30mins not knowing if I'd done it or not... so set off.... and nothing. No chiming in a 1km.... or 2 .... or anything. So I ran on the streets as I usually do before heading to the rec - that's about 15 mins.
Anyway, it felt good... more than good, bl**dy great! Breathing was quiet and rhythmic, I wasn't rushing, I felt comfortable and nice!! That doesn't happen often.
I was also so peed off with being told not to run (my previous post) by my physio that I got all pig headed and did my usual 6 laps which I know is about 30 minutes. I could have gone on forever today... robot legs were well oiled (thanks Sadie-runs ), there was no one in the rec to distract me, I just kept going, thinking about why I was doing this run.... THAT certainly put all of my recent moaning and groaning in to perspective.... I could manage a bit longer. So I managed 55 minutes in the end my lungs were getting tired, but my legs could have gone on forever, so it felt.
I was keen to see what I'd done distance-wise, I've never run for that long, but when I looked it had paused at 43 seconds!!! Oh well, that wasn't meant to be! So long as I've done the 5km I'm happy. Actually, just been out there, running was more than enough for me.

I would not normally tell someone to ignore the advice of a medical professional but they don't seem to have a very holistic approach to your health............so, I reckon your attitude is going to get you through.
From one insomniac to another, keep running, keep smiling.
I certainly did!!! Thank you, I think I know what to do now, thanks to all the lovely support on here, it's helped clarify a lot and to trust myself. I'm sorry that you suffer too. Running has certainly helped me cope with the desperation that sometimes come with lack of sleep
OMG, you mentioned the go-go gadget bl**dy magic robot legs in front of Sadie-runs ...!!! You told her they WEREN'T under your sofa 🙄 She'll be here any minute... betcha 😆
What an absolutely awesome run..!! Well done, you're amazing 😊 Bummer about the MapMyRun incident 🙈
Thank you my lovely, I hope you've bottled some of your inspiration and sent it to me with those legs..??!!??
Heading out soon to our favourite reservoir walk. The husband can wander with the dog and wave to me as I wobble off into the distance 😂
Aw, I secretly knew she had them all along, and given her recent trials, happy for her to have them. As I am happy to loan them to you, HITC, for your upcoming graduation run. Flip knows where all this magnanimity is coming from - enjoy it while it lasts, folks!
Beautiful run, dear Fishy, beautiful. And damn that MapMyRun tyke. It did that to me on my graduation run grrrrrrrr. But by the sounds of it you exceeded 5k! Do you feel good for your run? I am well jell. Cold still bleuch but hoping to manage a wee trot tomorrow.
Aren't you lovely, sharing your legs with us all!! I feel great! And loads better from hearing everyone's advice.... this place is so supportive, I feel very lucky. Sorry you've got a cold, easy does it tomorrow, no trialling those robot legs... if you get them back by then!
psst....I don't think you need the robot legs HITC, I think you can do this all on your own! We'll all be there with you, just in case, but you'll be flying x
55minutes and legs that could go on forever!!! You rock, you're a machine 🤖. Too bad about the tech mishap, it's frustrating but it doesn't matter because you NAILED it!!!
Haha, thanks SaskAlliecat, a machine today ... I'll probably start backfiring next week, that's the usual story! But I'll definitely take it while I can!
