Wk6Run3 After 6 days of no running

So, I hadn't run for 6 days due to a couple of days off sick from work, and then other evening commitments meaning I couldn't get out. I was really worried that it would be a total disaster, but running with my Stepdad means I keep to a steady pace, so we started really well. By 19 minutes, though, I'd developed a stitch, and had to slow down to walk for 60 seconds. I then carried on with the run, and when my mate Jo Whiley told me the 25 minutes was up, I added another 2 minutes on to the end to make myself feel better about having to walk off my stitch! Happy that I (kind of) managed it, just proves that I am a lot fitter than when I started the programme! My legs coped amazingly well, just need to work on my breathing a bit more I think! Not worrying about Wk7 so much now, either! Love the programme, love the sense of achievement, love love LOVE my new hobby! πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒβ€β€β€ Belonging to this group has spurred me on so much with this programme, hoping to get into park runs now before the big C πŸŽ„πŸŽ… Happy Snodi here 😁😁😁

Well done! I’m just a couple of runs behind you. Not looking forward to the 25 minute run in run 3!

Will do. My legs are my weak point. In the 20 minute run of week 5 I felt good in myself, but my shins felt like they were going to explode!

Ooh ouchy! Hope they are better soon! X

Yeah, just shin splints. Gone by the next morning.

Thank you πŸ˜€πŸƒ

Brilliant run, just goes to show you can take some time out and it's not a total disaster when you do. And also I love the fact you added a bit of extra time to make up for the 'stitch' walking, that's my kind of bizarre logic too! Well done on going out and getting it done

Thank you πŸ˜€ if I hadn't added that on, I'd have felt like I'd failed! Although, I guess I did technically fail to complete it πŸ˜‚

No - on one of my W6 runs I got fooled by Mr Smooth's voice over and finished about 20 paces too soon and then he said the 'time is up' message. I sought forgiveness on the site and was told you could easily lose that time just waiting to cross a road, so no technical failure at all..

Well done.. but, keep it slow and keep it steady...these longer runs are for enjoyment... your breathing should be easy..if not, then slow down... relax into the run.

You are fitter and stronger, but.. just take it gently... C25K is just the beginning of your running journey...and you should enjoy it... :)

Thank you, I really am enjoying it, I think I was feeling bad for not running in a week and felt I had to prove to myself that I can do it! Looking forward to building up my stamina now in the next 3 weeks πŸ˜€πŸƒ

Brilliant, you nailed it! Don’t worry about your breathing, you’ll be out on a run one day & suddenly think β€œooo, my breathing is ok but I never noticed when it happened” coz it just sorts itself out...so glad you’re out there enjoying yourself, you’ll be up on the podium before you know it!
