Hello, just wanted to introduce myself rather than sit in the shadows!
My name is Adrian, I’m 49 and married with one child. I’ve spent the last 30 years without any consideration to my health, smoking loads and drinking FAR too much amongst many other naughtys!! I gave up smoking in January and have reigned in the drinking to occasional.
I have just completed week one and am very eager to complete this program. There seems to be some very wise comments on here and some inspirational people so I will check in regularly to bolster my resolve. Thanks to those who take the time to help!
Regards Adrian.

Welcome and well done on many counts. I started running in March and can now run for an hour - I would never have imagined that possible. It is a great programme and I am sure your health will benefit from everything you are doing. You will enjoy learning what you are capable of achieving.
Hey there, well done for joining, welcome and greetings from a former cigarette thrower & pint lifter, world class in each discipline. Sadly, instead of raising on a pedestal l only managed to raise my blood pressure to funny levels.
Free from vice I'm at 10K level, eyeing the half marathon distance.
You can do this, the changes and benefits will be visible and remarkable.
Make sure you follow some priceless advise you will find here, and whatever you do, do it slow. Perhaps you should also do a gait analysis and let experts find the right shoes for you. That saves a lot of potential future hassle.
Hi Adrian, well done on achieving already, giving up smoking is tough! This forum is great and supportive & you can so do this. If I can anyone can and I’m now a graduate onto consolidating 30min runs-keep popping in & go for it👍🏼
Welcome to the best forum in the world. Here you will find all the encouragement and praise that you need to complete the C25K program!!
Well done on giving up the smoking, that’s a hard one as I know too well and also for reigning in the drinking, that’s also a hard one that I know well!!
Keep posting back here so we can all revel in your running fortune 😄😄
Well done on stopping smoking, cutting back drinking and completing week 1. Im on week 2 and it gets easier and more fun. Go you 😊
Thank you all for you kind welcome. I will look in to a gait analysis on the trainers as soon as possible, although I do feel comfortable in my current foot wear,it’s surely worth knowing if I’ve got it right or not. Really looking forward to completing this program and beyond!! After this weeks running I’ve realised I could never have felt as good whilst still smoking so it’s good riddance to that old habit!! Loving being outdoors and loving running with my dog!
Hi there and a huge welcome! Well done you for starting this and finding us.. we rock!
Slow, steady, compare yourself to no-one...do not push too hard and listen to your body!
The rest days between runs are essential and a bit of non impact exercise on those days is useful!
Keep posting for great support, encouragement and the odd shove if needed
We are here for you... every step of your journey
PS
You will get very tired of me... Slow and steady are my middle names and I advocate this to everyone Mind.. i can shift a mean 10 K if pushed.. even at 67 !
