Good for you, Chelleby! I started off wearing old yoga pants and T-shirt, 'running' around the local fields and orchards so no-one would see me. Five weeks on, I've just completed my first 20 mins non-stop run (wearing my new lycra running tights - get me!) and not caring who sees me. Not bad progress for an old bird who couldn't run for a bus. You've made a great start - stick with it

What?? In the garden??!! What a post...what an inspirational person you are, telling us, around the world that you are doing this in your garden!! You won’t be doing it there for long, you will be out there showing the world what you’re made of & with determination like that you will sail through the programme...i wouldn’t run outside of the confines of the park at first but once I stepped out into the big wide world, with the encouragement of my family on here, there was no stopping me!!! I will be watching your progress with admiration...well done x

πŸ˜‚ Aw Thanks - never thought about it like that!! I’m too shy outside and that’s what has put me off for years- we moved House in Feb and we have a pretty decent size garden 6 ft fences all around - my own little safe haven - well if go can avoid the falling apples from the tree 🌲 πŸ˜‚. If I have given anybody inspiration it will make my day!!

Have a look at Fishypieface 's earlier post for how to complete the programme in your garden and then graduate to the park (it's hilarious and inspirational and will certainly cheer you on) :)

I always think of Fishypieface when I hear of people completing the programme in their gardens...such an inspiration!

Yep, I did the whole thing and then some in my 80/100 ft garden. I started in May. I found that very slowly I outgrew the space and gained the courage to move into the real world (at 6.30am though, when hardly anyone's about) to the local rec. Very recently I've been running on the streets too. Now I've just signed up for a 10k training plan (eek). I'm very shy too, but slowly and with the fantastic encouragement from everyone on here you will be able to get out and about. Keep posting, you absolutely can do it in your garden, I would love to hear how you get on :)

When we talked about this before, people remembered a woman who did the programme in her lounge!!!!

Good for you, but listen to Fishypieface's experience.

Once you build up the courage to head to the great outside garden, you will realise that runners are virtually invisible and that most who see you will admire you for your efforts.

Your self esteem and confidence will grow and soon you won't give a damn what others think.

Enjoy your journey.

"you will realise that runners are virtually invisible" except to other runners IannodaTruffe, I spot runners, walkers, dog walkers from a great distance when I am walking, driving or running. They're one of my kind!
