I'm not really a book reader but someone somewhere on this forum or b210k had said they had read it and recommended it.

It is brilliant, Alexandra Heminsley describes her running journey from the beginning . How she thought about running , thought about not running how she thought she couldn't run.

She talk about getting the right running bra and her first experience of entering a running shop for her first proper pair of shoes and how they made her feel.

She goes on to train for her first London marathon and how she got closer to her father as years ago he had completed quite a few marathons when she was a child.

One of the bits that made my eyes fill was when she spotted her family and her mother started shouting to encourage her daughter.

One of the things that I didn't know is that years and years ago women were not allowed to enter official road races as it was thought possible there was a risk to their femininity or their reproductive health .

Thank goodness we have moved on a bit.

There's lots more to read about her journey

It really is a great read and even if you're not a book reader like me , I loved it.

That’s gone straight on my β€œto read” list, thanks. It sounds a bit like the film Brittany runs a Marathon which I watched recently and really enjoyed.

Oh it resonates with the start of my journey. I will put it on my to read list thank you! Sadly my cheerleaders are now my offspring and theirs as my parents are not alive but it still resonates. πŸ˜ŠπŸ™

Nice recommendation thanks πŸ™

Sounds like a good read buddy, you perhaps if and when you've finished it find your nearest c25k person (lady perhaps) and see how many miles the book can cover in the UK and how may miles it can cover..... And at the same time spreading the running word to maybe even some of the non believers out there, the ones who insist running is bad for your knees !!!!!

Just a random idea.....

I second that, I really enjoyed it! And then I was hunting for something else similar and I’m reading β€œNo run intended” by Hannah Phillips and enjoying that too 😊
