First Post grad run

That was just incredible. I decided to do an NRC guided interval run to add a bit of variety. It's good to change things up a bit I think. As I started my warm up walk after about 30 seconds somehow whilst crossing the road I fell off the pavement and bent my toe which was quite painful.

Then onto the 5 minute warm up run before starting the 8 x 1min intervals at 5k pace which I made a 6/10 effort.

For someone who enjoys sitting on the sofa eating roast chicken crisps I can't believe I'm about to say this ...... I absolutely loved it.

I felt I was getting stronger and stronger with each interval. I think I have found the runners high this morning.

Recovery next I think followed by a 30 minute long run.

That was such fun .

Happy running everyone.

Sounds like you had loads of fun, I've done that run and enjoyed it, hope the painful toe doesn't linger

It really was great fun. I think I have my running mojo back after 2 years. My toe feels ok at the moment 🤞

Great run for you Alan996, you can still reward yourself on eating another packet of roast chicken crisps but only AFTER you complete any runs you do, nice reward. 😊

Same name as me Alan, I rewarded myself with a box of chocolates after I ran my 3rd HM last week. ✔️

I would be celebrating for a long, long time if I ever achieved that type of distance. Wow!

Yes, I really enjoy them too. They add some variety which I like for motivation.

Just great!!! Well done you! The fun goes on :) And so do you!

Inspirational Alan! Having read your post, I popped into the NRC app (which I downloaded ages ago but have yet to use) but cannot find the intervals programmes you mention. Anyone got any further instructions/directions to find? Thanks.

The first and second speed runs in guided runs are both interval runs. There is a fartlek run in the guided runs too (which is a different kind of interval run).

I usually have so much fun doing fartleks

in reply toZev1963

Thanks! I'll give it a go.

Oh dear, I've just looked at the first two runs in guided runs....and they're both 10k. Since I'm still around the 3k mark....I guess I can bat out when I'm ready?

If you go to the guided run section of the NRC app and scroll down you’ll get to the October ‘Feel the Shift’ playlist. There are some short interval runs on there that may be suitable. Every month they put a new ‘playlist’ on the app which helps to mix things up a bit. Better still, if you complete 4 runs from the playlist in the month you get a little virtual badge 😁.

Thanks Frizzbomb - not only did I find the run but also....I had no idea how many scullions of different types of run were there! I'm going to start exploring them!

I’ve just done the 15 min interval run ‘Find your Pace’. From the October playlist. It’s an excellent intro to intervals and is guided by the velvet tones of Coach Cory 😍. I’d recommend it.

Love intervals!! I always carry out a calf check the day after, just in case there are any little knots which need smoothing out with a massage ball or massage stick. Probably an age thing 🙂

Glad you have discovered the joy of intervals! They can be tough, depending on which run you choose, but such a lot of fun! 😁
