Mr C and I have returned to where we married 10 years ago for a much needed break from the day to day hum drum in Blighty. If you'd said to me in August that I'd be packing yet to be purchased colour coordinated running gear, getting up at 6am (tbh wide awake as body is really on 10am or 11am), and setting off along the beach in 30 degrees heat, I'd have split my sides laughing. Having said that my run was only a short one. 18 minutes actually but I'm just happy to have the energy to do that. Long flight, little sleep, tropical heat and yes far too much alcohol are a combo which does not aid the running body the morning after. I just enjoyed the sound of the waves, birds and the many good mornings from those who passed me by. This was my first run without music. I didn't need any distraction to take in the breathtaking scenery. I especially appreciate even more how those of you who run in warmer climates and how you manage to run the times and distances I can only dream of. For now, I am content. C25K has changed my mindset and made me realise that running is to be loved and enjoyed like a best friend. Happy running to all you beautiful people who post on here πββοΈ

Caribbean ππΉπππ
Nice! Very nice
I've only been to Haiti there but that is not so nice lol
I'm a Caribbean addict. Visited Barbados, St Lucia, Anguilla, Grenada, Martinique & Antigua. Beautiful islands and wonderful people. Fabulous beaches and you can get a decent pot of tea π though there are other beverages to choose from of course π·πΎπΊπΉππ
I was in Puerto Rico once, unfortunately didn't get to really experienced it, wasn't supposed to even have gone there but flight was diverted on way to Venuzuela. Spent a few weeks in Honduras and that is absolutely spectacular and I swear it also had views that reminded me so much of England !
But Haiti - I simply cannot believe they try and entice tourists. I genuinely found out what literal terror running through you - body and soul - is twice there. It's the scariest place I have ever been under any circumstances.
Would love to go to the Dutch islands though What a fusion of cultures they must be
Spot on. Lovely fusion of cultures. Dare I say one of the positives to have come out of colonialism. It's Independence Day this week in Antigua. Looking forward to the wonderful festivals & carnivals they organise. BBQ spicy street food & plenty of wadadli beers π. I'll give Haiti a miss π
I basically wish more people looked to the present and future than a the negative post mortems they tend to when it comes to Colonialism
Never did see the sense in shouting about others long past transgressions from the rooftops while also hoping none of my own are even whispered about
Anyway, without Colonialism and Emmigration in whatever forms they take - it sure would be crowded in the Rift Valley or Mesopotamian flood plain or wherever we sprang from originally
Sounds wonderful. Enjoy your holiday and your tropical runs π
Wonderful! Happy anniversary and enjoy your break (and any running you manage to fit in!).
Enjoy your stay! Happy Anniversary. ππ₯
