Hi, am a 38-yr-old attempting the C25k. Tried running years ago but my knees didn’t like it so trying this app for a steadier introduction rather than just going for it on my own. Love cycling but near misses with other road users leave my nerves a bit frayed!! Currently just running on a treadmill.. not built up the courage for the outside just yet!!

Best of luck. It’s a great plan. It works, just take it nice and steady, don’t be tempted to try to run too fast. This forum is also fantastic support and you will learn loads. Enjoy.

Thank you, I’ve had a quick scan and it looks like a very supportive place to be :)

Welcome! I am just a few weeks a head of you- also cycle, but new to running. I am really enjoying alternating between jogging and cycling. This program and this forum are great - really friendly and helpful. Enjoy! 😁

Well done for getting here! The plan really does work - I'm now 43 & only started it in April, straight after having pneumonia, & couldn't even complete the first session first time round. This weekend I'm fairly confidently doing the Beachy Head 10k! Stick with the plan, go slow - seriously - & don't be tempted to run extra or on consecutive days. The plan works by building you up gradually so trust in it & you will do this 😉

Welcome aboard 🏃🏃‍♀️ I find treadmills great esp in the early days as u can run at a slow consistent speed and focus on just the run without the worry of external factors, people, weather , potholes etc . I do both and love been outside and taking in the view as I run round a lake but do find the treadmill easier although boring . Ull find ur thing 😀 good luck x

in reply toShelby1973

Yeah that’s what I was thinking, plus I don’t feel so conspicuous in the gym on the treadmill so can build up my confidence there first before I get outside! Thanks :-)

Slow and steady as you begin....keep posting and take your rest days.... Just remember not to leave it too long until you head out...( which is wonderful) as it is very different than inside running:)

Well done! Just keep it slow & breathe! I'm 45 & 3 stone overweight... & currently on week 6. You CAN do it!

Hi I was a 62 year old on my first attempt with zilch running experience. I got half way through then stopped. I returned to the programme as a 64 year old and graduated! I'm not going to pretend it's easy yet - no way am I looking at doing more than 5K (although I sometimes dream ). Just keep going - the sense of achievement, even triumph, makes you keep coming back.

Had the same issue myself, stick to the app including the warmup and cooldowns. Not had any issues with my knee's this time round. Reached the halfway point, onwards and upwards.

That’s good to hear! Good luck with the next half :-)
