W6 R1 better late than never!

After a really exhausting week (not including the running!) I needed a couple of days off so ended up having three rest days (!!) Not sure that's quite following the program! But it is what it is. Week 6 run 1 this morning - I'd heard this can catch people out but to me, the thought of intervals after the big 20 mins last week sounded like heaven. I think the reality was somewhere in between! Each run felt quite tough, so I was glad of the walks, but I managed it... Just! Must say I'm really feeling how hard each run is getting now but need to keep trusting in the program (and maybe not having quite so many rest days...)

Well done!

As far as I'm aware, you can take as many rest days as you need.

Yes, it doesn’t matter I don’t think, up to 2 weeks. I’m on my second rest day, mainly due to the weather here! Wet and windy at 5 this morning. Just didn’t fancy it at all,

Well done for the run! I struggled with that one, too. Mainly because I found an incline which was a bit challenging. I much preferred Run 2! That just seemed so neat and tidy 😂. I’m sure you’ll do just fine with it. I’m finding not every run is hard now and I look forward to doing them.

Thanks Jools, really want to get to a place where I'm genuinely enjoying the runs - not sure I can say that yet! But onwards and upwards...

I don’t think that everyone necessarily enjoys running while they are doing it. Maybe that will change as you become more confident. I have a friend who has been running for years, she goes out 2-3 times a week and runs 5K. She tells me she has a love/hate relationship with it, and really doesn’t enjoy it at all. She does it for her health and for the feeling she gets afterwards. Interesting!

Well done! Just take whatever rest days you need. I usually do Mon, wed, Fri then take the weekend off - a mini break! As you get older your body needs more time to recover. I'm 65 and do feel the 2 days is good for me! Happy running!😀

As has been said before, a couple of rest days (or even more) will not really have a detrimental effect on your fitness level .

I had bee thinking about missing tomorrow just because I have a lot going on before lunch !

But,

I won't !

I will just go earlier 😬🏃

Bottom line is you know your own body!

But that said , trust the program !

If you finished the previous run then you ARE ready for the next ! 😬
