After deciding it was getting too dark to run along the canal tow path I ran a new route yesterday which was much more hilly then my usual route. It was really hard work! But thanks to everyone here who gave me advice I made it. Next run is tomorrow for 25 minutes. On the tow path I could do this, on my new route I am much less certain and a bit nervous.
New Route: After deciding it was getting too... - Couch to 5K
New Route
Someone told me once to use my arms to get me up the hills - and it seems to help. Best of luck for your 25 minutes..
Great run. If you can do a weekend run you can still use the towpath for some runs.
Hills are for beating, you can do it!
Thanks Jacs yes I'm looking forward to weekend runs.
Small steps up those hills and if it gets too much turn around and go downhill. Once you finish the programme you can run/walk to the top.
Use your arms... backward/ forward not across the body.
Shoulders back but relaxed, stooping forward hinders your breathing
Slow and steady. All hill training needs to be built slowly.
Running over the brow is a delight as you suddenly realise the difference of uphill/ downhill and can often continue running from then on.
Remember when you run a hill it will feel harder, its the hill not you.... dont let the gremlins tell you otherwise!
You can do hills..... if you do you can run any route you choose 😀
Slow and steady. you will be fine Well done you!
