Same wood, different route

One of my regular running places has 3 entrances. One of which I have never used as the junction outside is busy main road, sharp left turn, narrow path between bushes to the car park. Today I decided to risk it, so that I could run my planned interval session on a fairly level route in some shade, as I’d left the house much later than I’d planned.

It wasn’t quite as shady as I’d hoped, and actually I’d miscalculated the distance to the open field section (that I’ve previously run to from a different direction) so ran in full sun for a short while. And it was definitely warmer than I was expecting (20 degrees by the time I got back to the car) so I did find picking up the pace very hard, and only briefly achieved the pace the plan wanted me too.

I was also very confused by the app - the written instructions said today’s run should last 28 minutes and showed 2 fast runs, but while I was running the coaching voice asked me for 4 fast runs - which I did NOT do as I was already melting.

Currently planning to do my next run - an easy one - by the river, early on Sunday morning.

I also find it hard running in warm weathe, said the energy doesn't it 😕. Early in the day is definitely best especially if doggie is coming too! 🐾🐾

I’m glad I’m not alone finding it hard. I often feel like I’m the odd man out preferring the autumn and winter.

I sense some really early mornings in the near future.

I think quite a few folk on these forums prefer Autumn and Winter, and running in the rain!😊 Yes, I intend to forgo a lie in tomorrow so I can get out before it gets too warm.

Good plan. Merlin has a scent class tomorrow, so my next run will be early doors on Sunday.

What is a 'scent class'?

Teaching the dogs to use their noses and find a particular scent after it has been hidden. Merlin loves it and is pretty good at it.
