I volunteered as tailwalker on Saturday, and typical! had more slow walkers than usual..

2 lady walkers I had to stay behind but chatted with which made the walk go a tad faster, and I mentioned c25k to them but they were having none of it, one saying running would damage her joints, of course we know better than that don't we fellow graduates! And so I corrected her, she only did half the distance anyway, and told me she thought she was a hinderance on Parkrun, to which I said she wasn't! 😏 will be surprised if I see her again!😁

Oh well, at least I got a run credit!😊

The volunteers are so important at the parkrun so credit to you for putting yourself forward...as for the ladies, nice try...we do know differently don’t we? But you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped....🤔

I volunteered on Saturday too. Was a Marshal on the course. The local Parkrun course is just over 3 laps of the Park. I was half way around on the course. It was cool when I saw the stream of runners going by on the first lap. Not long after the last 2 had past by, along came the leaders on their second lap and then the stream was mixed up between fast and slow, second and third laps.

It’s great to help out. Well done, you got a run/walk and volunteer. Two for the free price of one.👍

I do like tail walking, you get the happy feeling of volunteering, but still feel like you've had some exercise.

I've just got to the point where I'm vaguely contemplating a parkrun in the future (coming to end of week 7), and only just read the basics on the local website. I'm thrilled to know there may be people like you to keep me company if everyone else disappears into the distance... ;)

I think a lot of people get worried about being left behind, but shouldn't be, whatever the pace they won't be left behind...

Just do one of your W7s runs at the park run. 5 min warm up, 25 min run and 5 min warm down. You will probably do the 5km in 35 minutes or less. I did exactly that and surprised myself in the process and discovered a whole new bunch of like minded friends.
