After building back up gently, I threw caution to the wind and decided to try and run the whole 5k at Parkrun today. And I did it! The final hill felt like it went on forever but I slow jogged up the blooming thing and even had a bit of a sprint to the finish line. Official time was 39:27 which is only one minute off my pb so I'm really chuffed with that! ☺ Happy running all!

Congratulations Debston on running another sub 40 minute 5K, those numbers like 20 to 45 subs are always a milestone run with runners, you deserve to be chuffed 😊🏃🏾😀

Well done, that’s an awesome achievement!

Fantastic! On my first Parkrun I was aiming for 42-45 minutes and was delighted to find the official time came in just under 40.

My regret was that I did a single parkrun two years ago, and then put my back out and got out of running. That marked my PB at 37:36, so it took me a few Parkruns to get below that - I improved each week and finally got a 36:13. It really niggled me until I got past that previous PB.

Maybe it spurred you on? I would love to beat my pb next time, we'll see!

Spurred me on, yes, but I was very nervous the week I determined would be the one where I finally cracked it. Next week seemed more relaxed - not so concerned with wiping out the new record in the new era of running. (Re-did C25K)

I'm sure that psychologically it's somehow more of a big deal to get back to where you were pre injury / enforced break. Compared to just seeing if you can beat a less "loaded" pb. I said to myself that I wasn't very bothered about my time at Parkrun this week but in fact I was really thrilled to be anywhere near my pb! It obviously means more to me than I realised. ☺
