Woke up nice and early ready for my graduation run this morning full of hope.
Oh dear, after 20 minutes the right ankle gave up and I was so out of breath I had to slow down to a walk. Started running again after a couple of minutes then slowed when the ankle was too sore to carry on.
Was determined at one stage to finish but, remembering the advice give on this forum so often to listen to your body, decided to call a halt to the run.
Soooo gutted but I will have a day of rest tomorrow and tackle it again Sunday morning.
Even at this late stage we have off days - hoping this is just a small hiccup as I am really enjoying this running lark.

Oh bless! I feel for you. Have a good rest of that ankle, you did the right thing to stop your run, it isn't worth the risk of putting yourself out for weeks for the sake of a rest now. All the best for you when you are able to get out there again. Put it down to experience, its all practice, and hang on to those positive vibes! x
Oh that is a shame.......Put an ice pack on the ankle and rest it for a day or two then have another try, maybe start off slower than you normally run and just take it steady
That's a real shame, to get so close to graduation and then have a problem like that. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it all clears up in time for Sunday and you go out and earn that badge.
Thank you Yonda1960 I think the rest worked - cracked run number 3 this morning. Thanks for your positive thoughts.
Hope your ankle is recovered for you to graduate on Sunday. It was a rotten thing to happen but such is life. Good luck for Sunday and very best wishes to you.
Thanks Fitmo. Just back from the graduation run, the day or so's rest seems to have worked! Thanks for the support and I'm now off to ask for my badge.
