So up until now I've been running under cover of darkness. I get up at 5:15 and head out while the moon is still in the sky. I actually quite like this because it feels like the world belongs to me alone, but it also has the advantage of few people seeing me huffing and puffing at a pace a snail would be ashamed of.
But tomorrow, I promised to join my daughter in a fun run in aid of the school. Only 1k, which is nothing to a week 7 veteran like me But it will be the first time my running self ventures out in public so to be honest, I'm not feeling the most confident.
So this is me blatantly leaning on my virtual family - any words of encouragement? Thanks as always.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who runs in the dark to avoid seeing human life π I'm sure you will be amazing tomorrow and who knows it may encourage you to start running in daylight. Enjoy the run with your daughter π
I churn the following in my head when I have a 'wobble' (literal as well as mental!) - it's my journey, not yours, so your opinion is irrelevant - we're all just a bunch of atoms, chill. π Hope they help! Go for it!!
Ohh brilliant! You go enjoy it, your daughter definitely will! Stick with your usual pace so there are no surprises. Virtual running friends will be there alongside you πππΌ
I so feel for your reluctance to be seen -- I was the same for ages and would drive miles rather than be spotted by neighbours and anyone who knew me. But one of the many great things C25K has given me is acceptance of myself and pride in my achievements as a runner and the realisation that anyone who does see me is far more likely to be thinking 'good for her' rather than anything else. You'll have a great time, and you'll also discover that there are many delights to be had running in the daylight -- especially on a beautiful autumn day. All very best and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
Go for it you can do this head high chest out . enjoy that wonderful memory you will reflect on in years to come of the time you ran together ππͺπlife is about creating memories have fun will be thinking of you tomorrow. X
And out of the darkness at last??!! rolysmate wrote a post last week about what we look like...donβt ever worry about being seen out there coz youβre doing something merging amazing!! You never know, you may inspire someone to make a change too??!!! Your daughter will be so proud of you...lovely post...& you can lean on us anytime!! π
