Let’s chalk this one up to a bad run....

For starters, week 5 run 2 was a mental challenge in more ways than one!!! I was psyched up ready for my 8 minute runs... a little trouble getting out of bed, but for the most part, I woke up ready to go.

Warm up walk was good, a nice chill in the air made for a beautiful morning.... that I couldn’t see well bc I didn’t put my contacts in, my thoughts were... who needs those? It’s dark anyway... 😬 so that was the first issue (minor at best)

Next up, I was about 1.5 minutes into the first run and podcast went off (keep in mind I don’t have the app bc I’m in the US). So while running I started fiddling with the phone and headphones.. couldn’t fix it so turned to my timer, reset to around 6 minutes (I guessed, I’m pretty sure that first run was longer than 8 minutes bc map my run told me I was at a 13.05 mile about 2 mins before I started walking) and all was good. Made the loop, headed up my mini hill, and then things went downhill from there.

Very creepy van pulled up, right where I was running, and a man got out. My adrenaline kicked in and I went to overdrive on running. I think he was just going to his apt, but it was an alarm going off in my head.... so my cool down walk was a little different than usual... walked around the back of the complex in the 2 feet of space between the apt and the fence. Turned music off and walked In silence. Didn’t check to see if van left or not, but I’m pretty sure it did 😬

So when that was done.. it was time for the next run. I opted to run up and down the little area directly in front of my apt. Well.... dumb me forgot to set the timer, and I live on a hill... so every time I turned around, I had to run half of each one up hill. I think I cut that run short a minute and a half or so... did my warm down walk in apt bc I had had enough by that point!!

Sorry so long, it’s been an eventful 45 minutes since I woke up!!!!

So.... practice run or not? So hard to tell!!!! And from now on I will run in the evenings... I’m not dealing with that again!!!!

Oh blimey a scary run... try the next run in the series and see how you go. If it doesn't work out then you can do it again. It sounds as though you were close enough...

It was literally a roller coaster run!!!! Good term!!! My “fastest” pace was 7 minutes something per mile. (That was my adrenaline, it wasn’t maintained... no worries I slowed right back down)

Thanks!! It definitely got my adrenaline pumping! I'm sure it was one of my neighbors, but I wasn't staying around to find out!!!

This hasn't put a damper on anything though!! If anything, i'm even MORE ready to run on Saturday!!! :)

It isn't dreaded..or dreadful.....it is delightful..it has got a daft reputation from scary posts, ( mainly from folk who have long given up and vanished).... Just know you are ready for it and will do it!
