Success. It wasn’t my puff that got me this run, it was my feet. New trainers = love + hate.
There’s definitely some wearing in to be done. Although there’s no rubbing, it might just take me a few runs to get the lacing right - I felt a few tight spots and had a brief period of the toes on my right foot feeling numb. Don’t worry - the feeling came back after a minute or two. I’m doing my best to land lightly, and haven’t had any problems in my old shoes (which were basic Skechers memory foam sole trainers).
My left foot is still cramping now - but it’s likely just not used to having arch support. I’ll be using different muscles than I have been! Definitely keen for a good stretch and a bath now.
Hopefully Tuesday will feel a little gentler. I didn’t have much left to give at the end - even though I didn’t feel puffed! (And look, I’ve got my first mucky spot on them!)

I always alternate old/new shoes for a while so my feet have a chance to adapt more gradually to the change of support.
Alternate with your other pair for a while and check out the lacing and experiment with methods. There are loads to try which can help.
And as my Italian friends say that is not a messy kitchen, it is a kitchen well used. Same applies to trainers, they are not dirty trainers, they are well used!
