How is everyone's Parkrun day?

Clearly Saturday mornings have changed for ever more, and they are now simply known as Parkrun day! How did everyone get on this morning?

Hope you all enjoyed the 13th birthday celebrations, I even heard rumours of cake at mine...

I tried a new course today, and pleased that I did it. They had pacers going around so I kept a beady eye on Mr 38 minutes, as I've been hoping to get below 40 minutes. I managed to finish at 38.22 so I'll take that!

Happy running πŸ˜€

Did my 2nd today. Took it very cautiously as haven't run all week due to a twinge in my foot. To my surprise I beat my PB by 20 seconds! Running as a family and sets us up nicely for the weekend.

My husband didn't like the fact that I was in danger of getting fitter than him! My 10 year old son was amazing today: 31 minutes.

Ha! Good to keep them on their toes I think! Your little boy had done incredibly well, I would love to get a time like that! Maybe you have a mini Mo in the making?!

I braved it today!

I did it once over two years ago so re-registered in my married name for a fresh start. They changed the route though so now there are two steep hills and it's a loop you run twice so four hills in total.

I am on week 8 and my plan was to start with the five min warm up walk and then run but no one else was walking at the start so I felt I had to start running sooner.

I had to walk up some of the hills but tried to get back running as soon as possible at the top so I didn't run the whole thing. I am so pleased I finished though and am very pleased with my time of 38.07 as I wanted to get under 45 minutes.

I think mine is a speedy Parkrun as I no one did over 40 mins but I wasn't last which surprised me.

I'll be there again next week to tackle those hills!

That is a very speedy Parkrun indeed. Well done for getting back there today & fab result on your time - you should be very proud of that!

Ooh. That is a quick one. Ours had people finishing at over the hour mark today. I love seeing everyone from the speedy under 20 minute-folks to the hour plus people. I've been walking a lot of mine lately. My mini-goal is to run the entire thing, minus the giant hill at the end.

Wow that is fab. πŸ™ŒπŸ» Not sure I'll ever have the confidence to do a park run.

I would really recommend giving it a try one week TJMazz , you will probably suprise myself. My first attempt I felt so unsure, and was close to turning around & going back home but so so glad I didn't. We will all be cheering you on xx

Ahh thank you. Maybe a while before I try one but never say never

Yes, definitely pluck up the courage. It does take a bit of oomf to get yourself there but they are very all inclusive. Everyone is v supportive. Even the speedy Gonzales runners said well done to me while they were lapping me ☺️

That's nice to hear. Maybe I'll set myself a goal to do one. At the moment just focussing on being able to run is my goal, although I have surprised myself so far

Well done Charlotte that's a great effort! I managed the Lowestoft Parkrun in a new pb of 29:49 which I'm over the moon about, only got me 188th place however!!! No cake about for the 13th birthday though πŸ˜žπŸ™„

Good luck for next time that sub 38 mins run is beckoning!

MIne was slower than expected. I started off overdressed, then walked while taking my coat off which got tangled up in my legs after a few minutes of running. Then I was plodding along and a little girl had her barcode flit out of her pocket so I stopped to try and catch it in the breeze. Then I came across one of our kilometer signs which was knocked over and had to fuss to put it upright again. It was a very nice excuse to take it easy today. :)

Park run number 56, 22 months of running, this week 168 bpm, 31:28 previous week, 161 bpm, 30:44 rather sad πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ it was hotter, and I had a glass of wine the previous night! On Thursday I ran 15:11 on a 3 km time trial very flat. Happy with the 3 km time.

Those sound like terrific times, and how inspiring to think how much can be achieved 22 months. Well done to you!
