Week 3 Day 3

Can you help please? I’ve just completed W3D3 and have only covered 3.46km. I followed the programme exactly and can’t understand why I didn’t cover 5k. I am speeding up but I thought that each day, no matter if you walk or run, should cover 5km in total. Feeling annoyed as I completed it so easy too!!!

Love your profile pic!

You are doing really well. The aim of the programme is actually to run for 30 minutes without stopping, but only after completing the nine weeks of training

C25K is a catchy name, but many people complete it without being able to run as far as 5K. Most achieve it eventually though!

As you train, you will get faster, and I think you will have no trouble running 5K at the end of the programme.

Good luck and have fun!

I'm on W4R2 and I cover about 3.4k as well . It seems lots of people don't cover 5k to start with. I'll just be glad if I can manage to run for 30 minutes!

Stick at it you sound like you are doing really well.

Thank you Roseabi - I love the Cookie Monster 💙

I think I’m getting confused. I thought that each day covered 5km whether you run and/or walk. So even on day 1 although there is not much running, with all the walking you still cover the 5km distance (if you know what I mean).

Thank you for your help. I’ll keep going. I really enjoy it surprisingly. 😂

I am averaging about 3.5km and on Week 5 including both runs and walks. The mantra is slow and steady. Don’t worry about the distance. As the running times increase your distance will increase but as roseabi says the goal is to run for 30 mins despite the name!!

The majority of C25k graduates do not run 5k in 30 minutes at graduation, but you will be running for 30 minutes.

You have completed nine workout sessions.............it takes a bit more to become a runner. The programme is duration based, not speed or distance. It will progressively increase your running times in easily accomplished steps until that thirty minutes non stop running is achieved, when you may, or may not, cover 5k.

Stick with the plan and you will soon find that the demands increase. If you are finding it too easy, then try speeding up a bit, which will mean you cover more ground, but don't get hung up on distance covered at this stage. It is irrelevant to learning to run.

Don’t worry, as every one else has said it will come! I’ve just finished week 4 and cover about 3.8km on average. My first week or so however it was only about 3km. As your stamina and technique improves, you may find that you cover a bit more ground, but by the time you get to week 9 and are running for 30 minutes you’ll probably find the extra you need to do to get to 5k won’t feel as hard work as the previous 9 week! :)

I agree i thought c25k meant it was 5k walk or run and on last week should be 5k running otherwise its c230mins 🤔
