Numb toes?

Apologies if I’m annoying anyone, asking for help all the time. Totally new to running and still finding me feet, so to speak!

Anyway, does anybody else’s toes go numb when they’re running?? I’ve tried loosening my trainers, lacing then differently, wearing compression socks and wearing normal socks but it’s made no difference. I don’t have any health condition so I’m a bit stumped. Any ideas?

Are your shoes big enough? Usually you need a bigger running shoe than your normal shoe size as your feet swell when they get warm.

Its good to ensure you have a gait analysis and get the right shoe for your gait.

Hmm that might be it then. I bought trainers in my normal shoe size! It’s my birthday next week so I might just ask for £ and buy myself new trainers. Thank. Sx

Do get a gait anslysis, then you should get the right shoe. Try to go to an independent running shop who will have staff trained to help you.

Dont forget to post a photo of your new shoes, we like to admire 😀

You ask whatever you like :)

I am not sure.. if you have tried everything..Cold feet? I don't mean the TV programme :)

I always warm my feet up with rubbing etc and make sure the blood is flowing before the socks go on:)

Mind I rub my feet and legs before I get out of bed.. old snail habit :)

Thanks for the tips. I’ll try those and see if it helps. It’s not stopping me running but I’d rather not have it happen lol. Sx

strange isnt it..mine are usually back to normal by the end of the cool down walk. My trainers are also my normal shoe size so could well be that!

Not just your feet Sarah_lou18! It happens to me too but by the end of the run I'm ok. I thought it was strange but I'm just happy to run (I'm the least athletic person you'll ever meet!)

As someone has already said your shoe size will be bigger for running shoes. Not that I'm an expert but that's what I was told when buying mine. Didn't believe it but mine are really comfy!

I've heard the same thing somewhere - my running shoes are a half size larger than my walking shoes. Something about your feet expanding as they heat up? Could be a load of you-know -what, but they are comfortable so far.

The further you run the more you will notice it.

Trainer size could be the culprit I'm normally a 5 and in my trainers because I have wide feet like boats, a 7!

Wow, that’s really interesting! If never have though it would make such a difference. Definite trip to a proper shop is in order I think!

Yes I never thought about it at all...

If your trainers aren't big enough you're likely to get bruised toe nails which then lift off 😨
