Week 2 Run 3 - total disaster :(

Things did not go well today at all :( As I ran my shins and calves hurt so bad I could hardly walk. I did not complete all 6 90 sec runs :(

Will take a rest day and redo the run. Clearly I am in no fit state to progress to week 3. I am really disappointed but I don't want this to put me of course. I will persevere.

Stretch, roll and keep those muscles un-knotted ...and make sure you are taking it slow and steady :)

Make sure you're doing your stretches, as that could make all the difference. And if it was so tough as Polly suggests maybe take another rest day. You're not going to lose any progress by doing that and may give your muscles some welcome rest time.

You sound despondent but please don't be. We all have bad days and runs that don't quite work out. Every time you run you gain in experience. Have a think about whether there is anything that you can learn from this one? As Oldfloss says, take it steady, keep a positive 'can do' attitude and be kind to yourself- this is a whole new habit and your body needs to adjust to the new regime :)

You are all very kind! Thank you :)

Not a disaster. Just a practise run that will help make you stronger for the next one. It also helps you learn about your body, how it responds to running and how to look after it.

More than one rest day is fine and sounds like it might be a good idea. Make sure you stretch every day not just run days.

For now, have a hot bath and recharge. Do not, under any circumstances, consider giving up. You have embarked on a great journey and this has just slowed you down a tiny bit.

Not what you're looking for?
