Just completed w7r1....i just feel like I am going SO slow. I take Maggie (dog) with me and when I look at her she is barely trotting certainly not running fast.
Oh well the fact that I can go for 25 mins is way better than where I was 6 weeks ago. Hopefully the speed will improve eventually π€ππΆ

I did the same thing, my dogs come with me at times and barely trot!. Wk8 I noticed I was able to increase my speed slightly for short bursts. Having just finished the programme i'm working on those bursts in a more focussed way. Dogs trot a little faster during those but still not running! π. You are doing something amazing and transforming. Take it at your own pace.
After Graduation you can work on speed as much as you like.. do it now and you risk injury...check out the reply to GrannyO ... this is a long journey, and though we feel, yes, I can do this, yes, I need to be faster,, the legs and everything else, need the steady slow structured build up!
We are all different, but, we all have to listen to our bodies and be aware of hidden muscle damage..
I was the original Grey Snail, but two years on.. I can cover 3K in 20 minutes and a 10K in 1hr 10... and I am 67! And I am still standing and breathing at the end of the runs
Wow! Speedy Oldfloss! I'll keep plodding in your footsteps - feel really encouraged by your progress in two years. Thanks for posting. I'm only 62 so there's hope for me yet!!
I know many folk think I never move above snail's pace.. I do, but when I choose.. and I know that I have got there properly
You are a youngster
Thing is... I do try to do everything by the book, but I still managed an injury, a calf tear.. and was not aware of it.. just one of those things the Physio said..but it made me even more aware of taking care of myself
Thanks Oldflossπ I definitely don't want an injury so will stick with the slow and steady approach. It's taken me 54 years to discover running so I will have to stop thinking I'm still 23 lol π
Yeah - frustrating, isn't it? On the one hand we're delighted to be running (albeit in slow motion!) for 25+ minutes, but on the other, we long to run faster! We just have to keep running and smiling and building up muscles and stamina. Good luck
Hiya I worry about speed but only cause I run mostly on a treadmill . If I'm outside it doesn't worry me as I can't see how fast/slow I going so I guess it's just all in our heads . As long I'm moving I shouldn't worry π bring on w6 r2 xx
Yup you will, you're still building those running legs. So don't worry about it, you're doing nicely as you are...
