Blimey, Patrick - you really are going great guns! Have you tried the c25k+ podcasts? Especially Speed? I'll be interested in your answers as we're about the same level (with just 20 years age difference😥). I still have a lot of work ahead of me to get down to 30:00 on a 5k. But then I've got the rest of my life to keep trying)
Wow Patrick - you're fast and intending to get faster!
Respect!
That's a good time to start with Patrick1942 , There is no easy short cut, as they say to run faster you have tobrun faster.
The general path is a mixture of speed work, intervals, hill work and hard work plus any gym work or exercises you may do. Search ju-ju- posts, for 30 20 10 juicy has had great results with that
It is perfectly doable, just build up geadually what ever you do, dont risk an over use injury by doing to much to soon, been there done that and was out for 4-5 months including recovery and building back up.
Blimey Patrick! I'd like to get to a 30 min 5k by my 74th birthday too, but I suspect I never will! (I'm only 51, and clearly not at whizzy as you!!!).
Well done you!! I would suggest the speed podcast, or ( my personal favourite) the 30,20,10. This is a link to a post about my speed and the article is on there too... Good luck healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Hi Oldfloss, only running twice a week, thursday and Parkrun on Saturday, last Saturday should have been my tenth consecutive Parkrun, but I marshalled at the Rhyl Runfest half Marathon instead.
So next Saturday will be my tenth, best time was my last run at 35:50 and a pb for my last training run. Out of 9 Parkruns I had 5 pb's, times are coming down slowly, my age grade % went from 44.48% to 51.21%
Best of all I feel much fitter and am really enjoying running , nice to hear from you, keep up the good work, Patrick.
