Conquered a bad run

Wk 3 run 3. The last 2 runs I've found quite easy and was getting a bit smug. Well, it was SO hard today. I'm tired, I'd not left it long enough after eating and I'm not feeling the best. The final 3 minute run I thought I was going to have to stop, I had a conversation in my head about it being ok to stop if I needed to. BUT I didn't. I completed it. I know proper runners will laugh at me being proud of not stopping during 3 whole minutes of running but in the past I definitely would have allowed myself to make excuses and give up, so for me this was a success.

Everyone has tricky runs, but you knew the reasons why and you finished so it wasn't a bad run at all.

Well done for staying with the run and completing it. Crappy runs are all part of running. Even proper runners as you call them have crappy runs. It's powering through the crappy runs and completing them that makes you stronger and fitter and makes you really appreciate the great runs.

I was having some really bad runs recently. But my last 2 x 5K runs were lovely. Made all the crappy runs worthwhile.

Well done! I find sometimes with me it's all about about my mental attitude, if I look at the programme and think wow that's going to be hard I'll never do that I struggle. If I'm in a positive mood and think yeah I'm gonna smash this it seems easier. I'm strange so maybe it's just me. Don't give up you're doing great.

No one who runs- or is beginning to - like you or me will laugh. We all started at the beginning and if you actually look at “more experienced “ runners you will see an admiration. You are doing great, and before long you will be the more experienced runner inspiring those beginners- well done to you.

Clarkeycat...you’ve done brilliantly getting this far...oh boy, do I remember how hard I found those early weeks, but if the programme isn’t challenging then we won’t progress, right?? And a ‘proper runner’ knows exactly where you’re coming from...have a read back on people’s posts & you’ll see how hard it’s been for the majority of us, honestly...I mentioned ‘proper runners’ in one of my posts and I got a virtual kick up the butt!!!! Lol...keep going...you’re doing just fine x

As a fairly recent graduate, I can tell you I still have those conversations in my head sometimes... you ARE A RUNNER the minute you get up & go out to run... there will always be those who can run faster, further or for a longer time then each one of us & days when we just want to (or have to) stop... so those gremlins in your head are likely to be there from time to time... but well done for conquering them this time! :-)

Thanks all. I did week 4 run 1 today on a strapped up ankle and although my times were slow and the last 5 min run was hard it was an easier day than wk 3 run 3 so it just goes to show how little things can make a big difference to how you cope.
